Wednesday, 26 November 2008. Entry 5: August 16th,1848. I am finally in the gold fields now, but it is not what I have expected from it. there are many people here searching and mining for gold. Most of the Europeans are violent just because they want all the gold and they have already hurt some people that were chinese. How selfish! Remember when I said I can dig gold in one second? It is very hard to find gold here and I feel like I have been staying longer here than the Europeans!

Tuesday, 25 November 2008. Entry 2: April 30, 1848. I am in a ship now called the "Pacific Mail Steamship Company". I brought my shovel and other materials for something to mine. It is so crowded here and it seems like so many people wants to go to America! What can I say about the ship? Not what I have expected from it. Wednesday, 26 November 2008. Entry 4: June 23th, 1848. I have been so busy these days! I don't even have time to turn and think! I have been walking for such a long time now and my legs terribly ache. The owner of this place I'm working in has picked me to be a food carrier. So I have been carrying food on a huge trays for hours and hours! The work I'm doing is so much different than mining in China and I think its a little bit better too. So many people were coming to eat here! I shall ask tomorrow!

Tuesday, 25 November 2008. Entry 3: June 9th, 1848. It's been almost 3 months I have been on the ship and I have finally reached California! I have noticed it is very hot here. I just landed here and I find a bunch of people talking in very unfimiliar words through my ears here instead of the language I usually use in China.
