Spaces for Possibility : February 2015
http://everyarteverychild.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 16, 2015. Below are some questions I thought of, I also did an activity this week. Thursday, I spoke to my students briefly about modern and conceptual art. We talked about what the word modern. Might mean. We also brainstormed about what. We were doing these activities, etc. I wanted to also let them know we would be "exploring and generating" different concepts /ideas, and there wasn't a definitive "ending project" to the project yet. They were intrigued! Who is the person you feel most.

Spaces for Possibility : Student Reflective Writing
http://everyarteverychild.blogspot.com/2015/05/student-reflective-writing.html
Saturday, May 2, 2015. This ain't on any standardized test! Curie HS Art 1 Students are doing reflective writing during their critique. That's right! Our students think and process and then think about their thinking! Click on the link to go to our blog. There will soon be another post of some of the studies with the student writing attached. I regret I did not video the discussions. It is so hard to document and run the session at the same time! May 2, 2015 at 7:29 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Spaces for Possibility : June 2014
http://everyarteverychild.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 28, 2014. Recertification: I had HOW many hours? Sharing post from my personal blog Teachers After Hours. I just finished entering my proof and clocked in over 300 hours. That was just for the past 3 years and didn't even enter all that I do. It really made me think:. 1) Wow, I seriously love teaching, learning, and working for my students because all this stuff is done OUTSIDE the classroom. 2) I feel good about this (warm glow, sentimental music) regarding how hard I work. pat on back.

Spaces for Possibility : new materialism and post humanism
http://everyarteverychild.blogspot.com/2015/04/new-materialism-and-post-humanism.html
Friday, April 24, 2015. New materialism and post humanism. I attended the American Educational Research Association. S annual conference April 16-20th in Chicago. As you can imagine there were thousands and thousands of educational researchers from around the world milling about like particles of matter beautifully collected and diffused at the same time . I love this lecture by Jane Bennett on Artistry and Agency in a world of vibrant materiality. How can we attune to things rather than humans? Bennett ...

Spaces for Possibility : October 2014

Friday, October 31, 2014. Objective or Subjective Assessment Data. Greetings, I originally posted this as a comment, but see that comments can get lost in blog format so I'm re-posting as a Post. I was touched, saddened, maddened and "get it" when I read this response on the teacher reflections list:. Remember that the use of the term "data" is a fad. If questioned even the most hardboiled administrator will explain that what s/he wants is clear evidence of learning that is summed up in numerical form.

Tuesday, August 26, 2014. A letter to all my students past, present, and future:. It’s 1985. Picture a teenage girl with wild, dark, curly hair wearing a hideous pink and purple catholic school uniform. Do you see what you just did? 8221; I looked at her quizzically. She looked me right in the eye and stated emphatically, “You are a teacher.”. Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
