Monday, February 14, 2011. Setsubun - Chasing Evil Spirits Away. Why would millions of Japanese throw roasted soybeans both inside and outside of their homes every February? Our friends Taeko and Tomoe introduced us to one of the reasons Okinawans live longer than people in the rest of the world - Mozuku - a brown, edible (and fairly slimy) seaweed that is harvested from the ocean here.
