REVIEWS : NEWS : INTERVIEWS : PHOTOS : GIGS : OPPORTUNITIES : LINKS. Friday, 28 September 2007. Words and Photo's by Charlette Hannah. Guitarist/singer Martin started the show with his back to the audience - a brave move. Picking the guitar strings, he then launched into a rich and interesting full band song. With Martin providing ample guitar instrumentation, and backing from a varied and competent rhythm section, Pisces were a great listen right from the start. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://wellingtonlivemusic.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
REVIEWS : NEWS : INTERVIEWS : PHOTOS : GIGS : OPPORTUNITIES : LINKS. Wednesday, 7 February 2007. Wellington has not been behaving itself lately! Where has our identity gone? Who are we if we have no wind? Well, we still have earthquakes. Today's one was 4.8 on the Richter scale. Our office started to wonder if we should hide under desks or make a dash for the ground (5 floors down). On Monday it was only 3.5 but that one lasted for quite a while. Links to this post. It was a real family affair at Happy on Thursday, with Tim Beals and his sister Holly, and then Johnny Corker performing with his partner Julie Thompson. It’s always interesting to see the way solo or duo acts create dynamics, and Johnny and Julie did it in an unusual way, with Julie playing a cello as the second instrument. Links to this post. I thought he sounded a lot lik...

REVIEWS : NEWS : INTERVIEWS : PHOTOS : GIGS : OPPORTUNITIES : LINKS. Friday, 28 September 2007. Words and Photo's by Charlette Hannah. The music was unpredictable and very dynamic. The drums were forceful and solid, and the bassist and guitarist switched between instruments and vocals with equal fluency. According to a friend who is more familiar with this style of music than me, they sound like a mix between Shellac and early Metallica in their instrumentation. Links to this post.
