Postcards from Christina: April 2013
http://christinaspostcards.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 30, 2013. A working mom's travel warts. I've always been told that I'm a smiley girl. I tend to look on the bright side. I love writing about stuffing my face at a great restaurant or conquering a new city. But post-babies, travel comes with more downers than delayed flights or crappy service at a restaurant. These days, happy sighing after inhaling a luscious dinner is followed by a little guilt when I get a report that the kids screamed bloody murder when the sitter came (tonight). Stuck...

Monday, July 29, 2013. Real World: Hilton Head (family style! We had a fantastic time away during our first family vacation as a foursome. All of our prep for the long car rides and swimming really paid off – the Pickle was indeed a fish in water and I couldn’t have asked for two better travelers in the car (no frazzling moments to speak of! In North Carolina for nearly 2 weeks. I’m bitchy when I’m hot, so I didn’t think I’d be crazy about the beach, but boy was I wrong! Some stats for you:. D was a mani...

Sunday, June 30, 2013. Airport delays mean new airport lingo. After forgoing a gourmet dinner at a NYC restaurant for a burrito at the airport, who doesn't want to be inspired by random quotes? Two thumbs up to Tammy's words of wisdom colorfully highlighted in the CLE food court. I had quite the adventure with airport delays this week (although nothing like our infamous 2008 Vegas trip. Postcards from Christina: Squeezing in a summer trip to Charlotte
http://christinaspostcards.blogspot.com/2014/08/squeezing-in-summer-trip-to-charlotte.html
Monday, August 11, 2014. Squeezing in a summer trip to Charlotte. I am woefully behind in writing this post since we got back from. Almost two weeks ago. I have a good excuse though – in the past two weeks, I started a new job and we’ve been packing up our house as we prepare to move at the end of the month. Has been encouraging us to come down for summer boating fun for years. We had a great time! Jen and I shopped for some last-minute work wardrobe finds and Dylan got to drive another boat, this time on.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Christmastime in the city. I love being in NYC during Christmastime! The city lights are even prettier with the holiday glow. At my previous job, I used to time my trips to meet with reporters for this time of year so I could see the tree at Rockefeller Center and buy gifts at the Bryant Park. Holiday market. I used to always stay in Midtown, so they both were nearby. Now that I stay in TriBeCa, not sure that I'll get out that way. Links to this post. Labels: New York City.

Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Family fun daytrip to Put-in-Bay. Lots happening with our fam this month, but we squeezed in a fun day trip to Put-in-Bay thanks to Miller Ferry. I haven't been to PIB in years and Phil had never been so it was a great chance to experience it as a foursome. Family selfie at the Put-in-Bay Butterfly House. It's just shy of a two-hour commute for us to catch the ferry. Best spot in the house.err ferry. Lunch at Mr. Ed's. Such a different experience with kids! I think D's entire pr...

Monday, October 8, 2012. Tips for visiting parents of a new baby. Man, my friends have it nailed! Just like with our first baby, they’ve been so generous with encouragement, help and food. If you’re like me - I made an ass of myself many times over by not “getting” baby etiquette until I became a parent myself – here are some tips for that first visit. No hospital visits –. Hold the baby –. Don't stay too long –. When you do visit, keep an eye on the clock. Thirty to sixty minutes is plenty unless yo...

Postcards from Christina: Instant Southern party: just add water
http://christinaspostcards.blogspot.com/2009/09/instant-southern-party-just-add-water.html
Sunday, September 27, 2009. Instant Southern party: just add water. A little rain never hurt anyone. Good thing since Phil and I came a long way to Charlotte for a quick weekend to celebrate Jen's. And Matt's 30th birthdays at an outdoor party. In all the years I have visited Jen in Charlotte (seven? It has never, ever rained. Actually, it's always been perfect weather. Yesterday was an exception, but a hardy tent in Jen's parents' backyard kept us, her other party guests and the band nice and dry. I'm a...

Tuesday, September 4, 2012. My babydoll dreaming of her first trip! So, long travel blogging break, but for good reason. I'm now a mom of two, which means vacations just got a whole lot more expensive! Little Sienna was born in July, and per the photo above (! She is just aching to go on a mommy-and-me trip. Already, I can't say no to her so I just booked flights to Minneapolis to see visit my dear friend Sarah. And her girls in Hudson, Wisconsin, in October. Links to this post. Friday, February 7, 2014. Corn Pudding Recipe. Understanding a culture through it's food. Have you seen a corn dish on a menu in Europe or Asia? Corn casseroles are as American as meat loaf. I grew up anticipating holiday meals — the only time my mom made this wickedly wonderful, sinfully rich corn dish. When my daughter and I biked across Kansas. A few years ago, on our trans-continental ride, we pedaled for days through corn fields. So I had a lot of time to think about corn! Easy as 2,2,4,8! Despite i...

Gutsy Work can IMPACT your local and GLOBAL market: Bring. We are to arise and strive to shine. We are not allowed to live passive lives. This is why entertainment and other such activities, though not wrong in themselves, easily become moral issues. We need to think concretely what the Lord would have us do: Arise. And Strive to Shine. And loses his soul. Good enough if we only arise. We must get involved. We must become active. What is this call that demands to drop all. For the sake of God? With like-...

Mrs Ayann Hirsi Ali on reformation for Islam. We support her at Epic. Ms Hirsi Ali talks about Islam strikes American liberals as strangely intolerant. But it has its roots in the prevailing discourse on religious freedom and Islam in the country where Ms Hirsi Ali first began seriously tackling these issues: the Netherlands. she said it was necessary to defeat Islam and that we are at war with Islam , including in the military sense of the word. In another 2007 interview, with the London. In these pages...
