http://bylong.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-day-at-modelling-railways-of-nsw.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. A day at the Modelling the Railways of NSW Convention. I had an enjoyable day at the convention yesterday as always. Having been involved in running the convention for the first 22 years I can appreciate the work that goes into the day to make it successful so I congratulate the small group responsible. The fact that they are all friends adds to the feeling of camaraderie. I had been looking forward to the day, met many other modellers and had enjoyable conversations. May 18, 2015 a...

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Wollar Station Yard Upgrade. Several months ago as part of signalling my layout I decided that I would finally do something about the non-prototypical track work at the UP end of Wollar. Way back in the mists of time (mid-1980's) I was given some Shinohara points by a friend. As money was tight I built a station yard with what I was given which led to the not quite right track work. About the same time that I was rebuilding the track work I visited Train Works. This led me to dr...

BYLONG: Lost our Lovely Daughter - Kirsty
http://bylong.blogspot.com/2015/03/lost-our-lovely-daughter-kirsty.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. Lost our Lovely Daughter - Kirsty. On 11 March 2015, Chris and I lost our lovely daughter Kirsty to depression. She also left her elder sister Bonnie and Bonnie's two sons, Cameron and Jesse, as well as other relatives, friends and colleagues. Kirsty loved to travel and had been to Fiji, Bali, Thailand and Europe twice, the last time being an eight week free form driving trip with her good friend Katrina whose husband David was good enough to allow Katrina to go. Kirsty was a daug...

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Lighting Signals with Surface Mount LEDs. Sorry, but here is another signal related post although it is also related to progress on Bylong. The instructions on the Signals Branch blog for my 3D printed signals discuss using 0.8mm SMD LEDs to light the signal aspects so here are a few photos showing how I did a bracket signal. Firstly it is best to buy the SMD LEDs pre-wired, they can be bought without wires but they are so small that soldering very fine wire is difficult.

Monday, October 20, 2014. Werris Creek Station - Colour Update. I have been able to find a photo of the Werris Creek station buildings taken on 03/02/1973 by A. J. Hurst (John) on his web site. I contacted John to see if he had any more useful photos from that day but after a search he responded that the answer was no. I thanked John and certainly appreciated the time that he took to look for me. Further searching produced a 1961 photograph by Weston Langford which had a bad red colour shift but did seem...

Monday, August 18, 2014. I recently was told by Gary Laker ( his blog. Earlier this week I went to Jaycar to get some small jumper leads, you know, different colours and twelve to a pack. While perusing the tool section I found a pack of small metric drill bits. Photo from the Jaycar web site. I also saw a set of small metric taps and dies. For $59.95 covering 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.5mm. The taps come in both taper and plug. Photo from the Jaycar web site. Monday, August 4, 2014.
