The World of Destination Marketing: Appetite for Disruption. Skip to primary content. Ecuador Goes All-In: $3.8 million for a Super Bowl Ad. February 5, 2015. And more importantly, did it work? If the objective was to generate transactions to pay for the ad:. There was no overt call-to-action (other than the Ecuador web URL. Or offers in the spot to create urgency to act. Looking at available web analytics there has been no spike in traffic so far. This entry was posted in Destination Marketing. One thou...

The World of Destination Marketing: Appetite for Disruption. Skip to primary content. Critical DMO Leadership Actions for 2015 Part Two. January 29, 2015. It’s hard to believe that the stream of 2015 travel marketing trend and strategy recommendations continues through the first month of 2015. I found two more freshly published articles today alone. So to help destination marketers make some simple sense of it all, last week I published Making Content Creation an Organizational Core Competency. Today, a ...

The World of Destination Marketing: Appetite for Disruption. Skip to primary content. The Story of the Most Important Place in the World for Meetings. June 25, 2015. As destinations and venues all over the world try to convince people that theirs’ is THE place to gather, I reflected back on where many of my most important meetings have taken place. Let’s face it, who HASN’T had an important meeting at Starbucks? So what makes Starbucks the world’s “go-to” meeting place? Simple. Authentic. Human. I had a ...

Top Ten Brewery Experiences. June 19, 2015. The main course for the evening was a spice rubbed pork loin atop vegetable pad thai. It was. The evening was finished off with a cocoa buttermilk biscuit filled with a chocolate mousse. The biscuit was dry, but the chocolate mousse was very flavorful and creamy. It was paired with the Upslope Brown Ale, which was my favorite beer of the night and the Epic Lil Brainless on Raspberries which was also an excellent beer and choice for the dessert. Top Ten Brewery Experiences. 18 Hours in Greeley Colorado. July 6, 2015. Independence Day weekend in America calls for celebration, reflection and three days of fun. We used one of those days to throw a little purple mountain’s majesty and amber waves of grain in to the mix too, with a quick road trip to Greeley, Colorado. We left Cheyenne around 11:30 and the only brewery that was open when we arrived was Crabtree Brewing. And checked out their tap room. As I mentioned before our first exposure to t...

Top Ten Brewery Experiences. Here Come the Herbs. July 30, 2015. Our townhome in Cheyenne has a front flower garden raised planter that for the first two years we were here was basically a fallow weed bed. We tried to plant some flowers there in the past and aside from some volunteer sunflowers it never really grew anything. It frankly looked awful. With an abundance of herbs, I needed to get ahead of them and use some for dinner last night. I picked a bunch of basil and made some pesto. I also p...After...

Top Ten Brewery Experiences. From the Smokehouse: Smoked Mac and Cheese. June 29, 2015. The Wyoming Brewers Festival held their “survivor party” on Sunday and the host was smoking up some pork butts for all of us to enjoy. We were asked to bring sides, and I decided to keep the smoky theme and put together a smoked macaroni and cheese. I went to my go to Smoking-Meat.com and found their recipe. Recipe (modified from Smoking-Meat.com). 16 oz of small shell pasta. 1/4 lb (1 stick) of butter. 9 x 13 foil pan.

Top Ten Brewery Experiences. All posts by jimwalter. Of Temptation and Dry January. January 5, 2016. The reality of it is, I’ve wanted a drink just about every night. Some nights have been harder than others. Last Saturday was the most interesting. More than anything I craved the hit at the back of the tongue that comes when the carbonation of a beer hits the top of your throat. It wasn’t the booze, or the drunk that I desired it was the mouth feel. My Top Beers of 2015. December 31, 2015. Samuel Adams A...

Top Ten Brewery Experiences. Friday Fav: A Great Piece of Meat. July 31, 2015. The beauty of the growing foodie blogger scene is that there are more and better resources when it comes to raising your game while cooking wild game. Venison is a lean, flavorful meat that screams to receive a better treatment than frying it in butter and garlic. A few weeks ago I opened my email to see the latest post from Laura’s Wild Kitchen.
