Greg Tracy: Adding parking to the Madison API homebrew
http://blog.gregtracy.com/2012/01/adding-parking-to-madison-api-homebrew.html
Monday, January 2, 2012. Adding parking to the Madison API homebrew. It started with this tweet. And then I found myself on the couch during New Year's Eve with a really bad movie. Laptop out. in the wee hours of the New Year, I released a new web service for Madison. It provides a simple JSON wrapper around Madison's recently released data for parking availability on the isthmus. I added it to the list of services available in the SMSMyBus API. Greg Tracy: Communication and your identity
http://blog.gregtracy.com/2014/01/communication-and-your-identity.html
Saturday, January 11, 2014. Communication and your identity. Photo courtesy of Google. Google ruffled a lot of feathers in the privileged tech world this week with their new Gmail integration. In Google . It seems like an obvious integration to me. I just wish they’d market the integration differently. The email address is a pretty arbitrary endpoint for communication. If I want to share my profile publicly on a social network, why wouldn’t I want someone to be able to reach out to me?

Greg Tracy: Goodbye Posterous. Hello Blogger.
http://blog.gregtracy.com/2012/11/goodbye-posterous-hello-blogger.html
Sunday, November 18, 2012. Goodbye Posterous. Hello Blogger. I've been hosting my blog on Posterous. Since I started writing in 2008. Earlier in the year, they sold. The business to Twitter. With no guarantees that the service would be around long term. I kept waiting for them to offer a tool to extract/port content and it hasn't arrived. So I decided to scratch an itch and do it myself. I ported my blog to Blogger. This weekend and here's how I did it. Has two different URIs. Import XML file into Blogger.
Greg Tracy: Celebrating National Day of Civic Hacking
http://blog.gregtracy.com/2013/06/celebrating-national-day-of-civic.html
Sunday, June 2, 2013. Celebrating National Day of Civic Hacking. This weekend was National Day of Civic Hacking. An incredibly well organized, distributed and disconnected network of events across the country where people came together to build tools and policies to make their communities better. I love this type of work. It's the inspiration behind SMSMyBus. That powers 40 transit applications, and our local civic hacking organization, HackingMadison. Http:/ api.smsmybus.com/map. http://blog.gregtracy.com/2014/05/meet-stuart-slack-love-child.html
Sunday, May 18, 2014. Meet Stuart. A Slack love child. We’ve been using Slack. For about six months now. And like most teams, we love it. Lots of folks have have written about why they love it. And we enjoy it for all of the same reasons. Less email. More transparency. And more collaboration. But what I love the most are the integrations. The list of integrations. Is growing every day and they’ve made them as easy as hotdogs to setup. Github. I set out to fix this. Stuart was born. By himself, Stuart won...
