book nutter-putter

Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (Dai Sijie). I finished reading this book a couple of weeks ago. It's an interesting plot, set against the China and the Cultural Revolution. It kept me interested enough to read through it in one sitting but the ending left something to be desired. It's a quick read, and very short. Would I buy it or re-read it? Wednesday, December 13, 2006. Milavetz v United States of America.pdf. Thursday, February 23, 2006. Thursday, February 02, 2006.

book nutter-putter: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

http://www.haejibookworm.blogspot.com/2005/11/kite-runner-by-khaled-hosseini.html

Tuesday, November 15, 2005. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Most book reviews focus on the haunting story that transports a reader to a different reality - Afghanistan. Obviously, there is more to explore in this book than what I state above - the poignancy of the plot itself. But I make no attempt to analyze any books fully in my postings, so I will stop here. because, I don't have the book with me anymore to refer back to it! Would I buy this book? I have limited resources. =). Desert of the Mind.

http://www.haejibookworm.blogspot.com/2005/04/maltese-falcon-by-dashiell-hammett.html

Thursday, April 28, 2005. The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett. I've wanted to start keeping journal/thoughts/essays about books I read. So what better way than a blog? I recently finished reading "The Maltese Falcon" by Dashiell Hammett. I got curious because of all the recent publicity about this "classic." I have never heard of the book and yet it was considered a classic. So I borrowed it from the library to see what all the fuss was about. Why is this a classic? Did I like the story? Yes The writi...

http://www.haejibookworm.blogspot.com/2006/02/waiting-for-love-corellis-mandolin-by.html

Thursday, February 02, 2006. Waiting for Love: Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis De Bernieres and The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I finished reading Corelli’s Mandolin earlier this week. And I just finished The Time Traveler’s Wife. I would do 2 separate entries, but I realized they both had similar themes and I am lazy. Both are engrossing and well-written, but Corelli’s Mandolin will probably last as a literature. Both are love stories. The author achieves telling a poignantly beautiful tale ...

http://www.haejibookworm.blogspot.com/2006/02/demian-and-siddhartha-by-hermann-hesse.html

Thursday, February 02, 2006. Demian and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse and The Immoralist by Andre Gide. I’ve been neglecting my entries of the books I have been reading. Partly because I’m too busy reading the next book to sit down and write. Partly because I’ve returned the books I read and forgot about writing. In any case, I want to keep a record of what I read, if not for the sake of checking them off of my endless list of books to read, then for the sake of remembering the books I read. To be honest, ...

world of hoagie: Backdoor Roth IRA

http://haeji.blogspot.com/2013/02/backdoor-roth-ira.html

Bits of orderly randomness. Sunday, February 10, 2013. I learned an interesting loophole to save more money into retirement account recently. To get either the tax deduction for a traditional IRA or to be able to contribute to a Roth IRA, the modified adjusted gross income needs to be at a certain level or less. You can see all the different limits at this IRS website. As this Forbes site. Explains this as funding the Backdoor Roth IRA. Sewa mobil di bali. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Bits of orderly randomness. Sunday, July 29, 2012. Washington DC 2012 - Vacation or Information Overload? This post comes really late. mainly because Blogger wouldn't post, and I gave up for a while. Not to mention I ended up taking another trip (unexpected) after this one. But better late than never! After my trip to Fiji, I went back to work for a week. and then took off for another vacation! WWII Memorial at night was quite gorgeous. Another picture at night. This was during my first night at DC.

Bits of orderly randomness. Sunday, June 17, 2012. Fiji - Final Post/Part 3! Making our way to our small cruise ship for another snorkeling trip! This is the island we got to. Because there are no docks, we had to take small boat to actually get to the island. Some people swam to the island using snorkel gear. Quite a gorgeous view of the island, and the coconut umbrellas! Another shot of the island we got to. I decided to take a picture of our shadows on the beach. And that's our Fiji trip! My sister to...

Bits of orderly randomness. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Congress Proposes to Change IRA to Raise Tax Revenue. What Congress giveth, Congress taketh. IRA and other retirement savings vehicles are created by Congress to give incentives to save for retirement. The incentive is mainly through breaks in taxes. Apparently, this tax advantage has also been use for estate planning purposes for those who inherit IRA's from say, parents, can stretch out the distribution over a long time with tax breaks.

world of hoagie: Time or Money?

http://haeji.blogspot.com/2012/11/time-or-money.html

Bits of orderly randomness. Sunday, November 18, 2012. Time is money, right? Rather it seems time can be used instead of money when the price is right. Or money can be used when time is more precious. I traveled to Washington DC last week for a conference. It's not the first time I have been to Washington DC, and one of the things I really like about the city is its M etro system. So time is money, and all you need to do is figure out what is more valuable to you - time or money? Follow me on Twitter.

Bits of orderly randomness. Sunday, March 18, 2012. Ever had a perfect day? Well, I had one a couple of weekends ago. It was a beautiful, sunny day in San Diego, and a walk by the Sunset Cliff was just the ticket. At the end of the walk, I was treated to dolphins who frolicked about. Earth is quite beautiful! Here are some pictures. There were already some folks enjoying the day by the cliffs. And up close! It wasn't just the ocean. Flowers were in full bloom, and flowers by the ocean?
