Gretchen Reads 24/7: Christ Centered Books for Easter
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2013/03/christ-centered-books-for-easter.html
Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Christ Centered Books for Easter. Start your collection now if you haven't before, by adding one or two to your child's Easter basket this year! Here is my list of good choices, broken down into 3 categories: Storybook Bibles, Bible narratives and allegorical tales. Why not make it an Easter tradition to receive a new story Bible? Here are others I like, roughly in age order:. Jesus Hug-a-Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones (I have written about this quite a bit before! Big Picture Stor...

Gretchen Reads 24/7: Holy Week Actvities
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2011/04/holy-week-actvities.html
Monday, April 18, 2011. I really wanted to do some things each day this week to make Holy Week special. I feel like Susie is old enough to enjoy some special activities and begin to understand parts of Jesus death and resurrection (and I mean BARELY understand SMALL parts). So far, this is what we have done:. Monday - pumpkin pancakes for breakfast (I just wanted to make them, even though I realize pumpkin is not very springy! Diving into the food - I could not grab the camera fast enough. We shouted "Je...

Gretchen Reads 24/7: Reformation Party
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2007/10/reformation-party.html
Wednesday, October 24, 2007. How do you have a Reformation party? Here's what we're doing at Clifton. At each of the booths, the kids can earn a stamp on their "passport", which you are trying to complete. In addition to that, we have a jail, where persons who are spreading "heresy" can be thrown, a "jousting" match using pillows, the Reformation University where children show projects they have created at home as well as tons of CANDY! Sung to the tune of "Supercalfragilisticexpialidocious"). Speak your...

Gretchen Reads 24/7: Countdown to Easter
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2012/03/countdown-to-easter.html
Wednesday, March 07, 2012. Tonight I was looking for Christian or religious themed Easter stickers in a big chain craft store to use with my kids in counting down to Easter Sunday - basically just planning to stick on on the calendar each day. . . not overly exciting, I know, but I wanted to do something! Not surprisingly, there were NONE to be found - seriously nothing whatsoever. It's ok, though, because I was struck with a GREAT idea for counting down to Easter! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Gretchen Reads 24/7: Singing for Easter
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2013/03/singing-for-easter.html
Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Susie at lunch - looks like I felt extra Easter-ish that day! My kids can sing Christmas carols all the live long day, mainly because I love to sing and listen to them during the Christmas season. Chip could barely talk at Christmas but that didn't keep him from singing Silent Night and Away in a Manger from dawn til dusk during Advent (and a good while after Christmas too! So let me share a few of our favorites. S also a favorite! I don't personally have a CD with that song, but...

Gretchen Reads 24/7: Good Friday to Easter Sunday
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2011/04/good-friday-to-easter-sunday.html
Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Good Friday to Easter Sunday. All dressed for church on Easter Sunday. I had such a great time making this past week a celebration with Susie, and have collected lots of ideas for next year! Here's what we did, and what I'm planning to do next year:. She requested we sing this song all weekend, calling it "Jesus sad" or "Easter". We also went swimming Friday night - I tried to have some fun and special outings during this time to really make it special. But I want to be more inte...

Gretchen Reads 24/7: More Holy Week activities
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2011/04/more-holy-week-activities.html
Wednesday, April 20, 2011. More Holy Week activities. Tuesday - this is in no way original, but we colored eggs. I debated back and forth about this activity, but am really glad I chose to do it. Coloring eggs usually sort of falls in line with celebrating the "American" version of Easter, and not actually anything very holy. But I decided it's time we redeem this this activity! Adding grass around the mountain (it bakes for 4 hours first). Coloring the picture of Jesus I copied from her book. I remember...

Gretchen Reads 24/7: March 2013
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 28, 2013. A sunny day to look for flowers, rocks and sticks! I'm sorry I didn't get to this more quickly! We have had a very busy week. It's been good, but BUSY! We made our Easter mountain, and tonight we attended our church's Maundy Thursday service (a highlight in my year! I will not take time now to repeat detailed descriptions on our Easter mountain, but just put up a few pictures I have taken as well as the link. To where I wrote about this in the past. Decorating the Easter mountain.

Gretchen Reads 24/7: Holy Week and Coloring Eggs Naturally
http://gret-reads-247.blogspot.com/2012/04/holy-week-and-coloring-eggs-naturally.html
Tuesday, April 03, 2012. Holy Week and Coloring Eggs Naturally. This year I spread out my "Holy Week" celebration a bit so that we did some Easter-focused activities over the course of Lent. But this week, a few special activities seemed the most appropriate (such as the Easter mountain, which I am planning to do tomorrow). On Sunday we celebrated Palm Sunday by waving palm branches and singing and painting a picture of Jesus on a donkey. Just beginning - not too messy yet. Fun times. and CREATIVE! Jesus...
