Friday, April 16, 2010. Me having a go on the neighbour's 20 tonne digger last Sunday. It was fun, could do better with practise, I'll stick to my normal job in the meantime. The local wild life. More fill for the quarry. Wind blown dust and dirt. Finishing the ground work around the house. More insulation for the floor slab. Time for a catch up.

Sunday, May 30, 2010. So far the house has been cosy warm, an early indication that having lots of north facing windows and good insulation makes a big difference. The picture shows the midday sun streaming into the family room heating the insulated floor slab. We haven't had any really cold days yet but early indications are we will be very comfortable. We have added another couple of channels to the temperature data logging; the floor slab and the roof space. Above is the graph of the past 7 days.

Saturday, September 26, 2009. Solar heating pipes installed. The weather is still against us. Yesterday Luke and I installed all the electrical flush boxes all ready for the cables. Today between the showers I installed pipes in the roof. These pipes will be just under the roofing iron and will transfer heat from the roof to the floor slab. If successful I will install more pipes later. We are off to Austrailia for a week, weather permitting we should have a roof by the time we get back. We have a house!

Wednesday, October 28, 2009. The exterior cladding and painting have now been finished and all the plastic protecting the windows removed . The scaffolding will be taken away tomorrow. We have been very impressed with Texmark They have gone out of there way to make sure everything is as we wanted and have left the site extremely tidy which is not easy considering they are working with polystyrene.
