Half Eight performed at the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) annual prelims at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on 8th November and we qualified to go to the semi-finals next year. A Barbershop Quartet from Dorset UK. We maintain a varied repertoire from vintage Barbershop numbers to ballads, rock and roll and pop songs. In season we also sing a variety of Christmas songs and carols. Here is our current repertoire. Denotes songs that we are currently learning. Fats Waller classic with a gentle and relaxing swing beat. The powerful John Denver love song has great words and musical resonances. A 1918 jazz number frequently improvised. Some anger in the lyrics! Neil Sedaka 1962 classic.

Southern Union Chorus was formed in 1984 from the Dolphinaires (1972) who were founding Members of the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) and the Harbourmasters (1974). We are always on the lookout for new members. Previous experience of a choir or knowledge of music are not necessary (most of our members do not read music).
