So, just when you thought all racing had ceased….I’ll hit you with a double. Firstly, my attempt at a sub 2 hour half marathon. Pip’s and I made an agreement a while back to have a go at this, after some false starts, Pip finally found this gem of a race. Flat and fast or so they said on runnersworld. We got our entry’s in then promptly set about doing other stuff.

Took Friday off as I was generally knackered from the week. So stayed home and had a curry with Bronson, which was cool. 8211; 1 hr. 2 laps of Liquid Lake. Also don’t want to risk not getting it back from Cornwall in time for the race. 8211; 80km in 3hr 9 mins. And so begins week 14…getting close to race day now! 50min...

A Whole World of Pain. I like to pretend I'm a bit of an athlete. So here are some ramblings along those lines. Thursday, March 29, 2007. Wednesday - Week 9. 10,2km in 1hr. Knees feeling much better thanks to some stretching. Not a fast run but nice and steady. The running is going fine, not great, just fine. I was hoping that by now it would feel really easy, and be a bit quicker.but alas, not. No need for panic though, still 10 full weeks to go. Depends on the HR and the knees really. 6,7km in 40min.

Thought I’d post up some of the numbers from the race…quite arbitrary, but want to keep them to compare to in the future. Total time spent training. I kept these stats from about mid January to race day. The Race, from my heart rate monitor. Avg Hr : 152. Max Hr : 171. 118 out of 210 girls who started the race (206 completed the race). 25 out of 40 in my age group (F30-35).

I suppose it began when my friend Peggy announced she was going to a lovely Pacific island for a couple of weeks. She started posting these gorgeous pictures of palm trees and sand and water - warm, swimmable water. And there was blue sky and sunlight. We don't have much of any of those things here right now. I grew quite out of sorts. I told my family how jealous I felt.

Lessons in Triathlon
Things I learn throughout my journey from race to race. Friday, May 1, 2015. For every uphill there is a downhill. Alright, I took a few weeks off from writing because I needed to get out of my head for a bit. I've been having some issues dealing with some overwhelmingly heavy topics: money and time being at the top of that list. Saturday (tomorrow) I'm doing my first open water swim since 2012. My first race of the season is just two weeks away and getting in some open water is a really high priority.
