The Half Moon – A Whole World Apart. The Half Moon is the longest established inn in the parish of Clayhidon. The first records show a licence was granted to Thomas Salter in 1787. Next to St Andrews church, it was probably built originally as a cottage for stone masons to live in while they built the church in the 13th Century, and this ecclesiastical connection has continued in a totally unique way. We are open all day Fri, Sat and Sun. Fresh Crab and Lobster specials available. Closed Lunch and Evening.

Every Friday from 6pm. 12pm to 2.30pm. The Half Moon is becoming well known for it's traditional food, presented with contemporary style in warm, welcoming surroundings. Everything is fresh and homemade, including our mouthwatering array of puds. The pub has a fascinating history, an amazing view over the beautiful Culm Valley, a lovely log fire, and a great selection of Real Ales. These are all local and constantly changing. The Blackdown Hills is an almost secret area with a very precious and unique landscape. Few people realise the extent of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where narrow lanes are virtually historical monuments dating back centuries. It straddles the Devon/Somerset border and the M5 and A303 skirt the north and south which has allowed the area to remain largely unspoilt. The area is a Mecca for walkers and cyclists and there are many lovely walks and footpaths passing near to the pub.
