And now my rant on just how bad things were out of whack to try and start a new roof! I started with building the center cradles and then the one's on each side. On the front wall I built the right side first and then the left. When I measured for the left, it was 4 inches higher than the right side? The left side was not as bad but still had to move the front over a few inches.

I estimate I can eliminate 50 to 60 percent of the problem by fixing that gap. But what to use? I've been reading up on This Old House on how to tighten up old windows and one thing I've come across is the Easy Stop. In the above picture you'll notice the edge of a metal strip the sash rides on. You may recall I've referred to this stuff as sash rail. Pic of the day.

Sunday, January 30, 2011. The beam actually isn't really a structural beam at all. My GC called it an internal truss system, which seems to be tied into the overhead joists from the porch roof. There are even steel rods that tie in at each column and span the entire length. Ok cool. So why was it sagging? The plan is to pull off all the fascia boards and rebuild them perfectly level. I'll show how we did that next time. For now, take a look at the truss in all its exposed glory. See those water stains?

I knew I needed a register for a 10x12 opening, The original replacement I got off ebay went towards the project house. Off ebay.
