PLANET FRAMED: Anclote Key State Park
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2012/07/anclote-key-state-park.html
Monday, July 9, 2012. Anclote Key State Park. Fishing boats along the Sponge Docks. For as long as I can remember, there's been a guy on the docks shouting out departure times for Sponge-o-Rama's Dolphin Cruise. Which I always thought was prettyy cheesy, until Anna and Nellie mentioned the trip now includes a stop at Anclote Key State Park. Home of Anclote Lighthouse. Carolyn Ross - The Way Eye See It Photography. Labels: Anclote Key Lighthouse. Beneath the 12 Mile Reef. July 9, 2012 at 7:43 PM. Love rea...

PLANET FRAMED: March 2012
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 17, 2012. That's what I wrote in my journal the evening after visiting Black Skimmers, Royal Terns and their chicks at Sand Key Park. In Clearwater. Since I rarely go to the beach, I had no idea these guys were laying eggs, until I read about them on PinellasBirds.com. A barrier island, Sand Key is 95 beautiful acres, separated from Clearwater Beach by Clearwater Pass. It was opened to the public in 1984, and visitors can enjoy both the beach and park, where there's a salt marsh. ...And a...

PLANET FRAMED: November 2011
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 1, 2011. I can't say I've had many psychic dreams before, but something about the ghost orchid. Seeped into me and wouldn't let go. This summer I had the most vivid dream about a ghost orchid, that I had gone hunting for them in Orlando. Funny thing is, in my awake world, I wasn't even sure ghost orchids existed. The morning after my dream, I had no recollection of flowers, until a patron at the library where I work checked out the audiobook version of Susan Orlean's. There's another dr...

PLANET FRAMED: July 2012
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 19, 2012. 65279;. Winter in Panama and Winter's Zone. I wanted to visit Winter again before her movie, "Dolphin Tale," was released, so my mom and I took ourselves to Clearwater Marine Aquarium. One recent afternoon. Would Winter be the same after her starring role and so much publicity, or had she turned into a diva since my last visit? How much had the aquarium changed, and would Hope, CMA's youngest dolphin, be out and about in her tank? But when I watched it again recently...

PLANET FRAMED: October 2011
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park and the Florida National Cemetery. 65279;. 65279;. Note to self: next time The Way Eye See It heads off somewhere, do some research! Actually, I thought I'd researched Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. Fairly well, but somehow I didn't absorb the fact that it's humongous. Our "ah ha" moment, as Anna called it, came when we climbed the park's 50 foot observation tower and surveyed nothing but vast land - 21,000 acres worth. It was st...

PLANET FRAMED: Ocala National Forest
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2013/04/ocala-national-forest.html
Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Sometimes getaways are mapped out and planned. Sometimes not so much. That was the case with The Way Eye See It's adventure to the Ocala National Forest. Which began with the usual "where should we go? There are four natural springs in the forest, and we followed signs to Juniper Springs, which is a campground and recreation area. There's also a pretty cool mill with functioning waterwheel, which was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. You are so talen...

PLANET FRAMED: September 2011
http://planetframed.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. Boyd Hill has 5 unique ecosystems (hardwood hammock, sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, willow marsh, and lake shore), but we've never covered them all at once. My tendency is to drift towards the shoreline, and, since we'd covered some of the pine flatwood trail on previous visits, we decided to walk towards Lake Maggiore. But I wanted some shots, although with my zoom, I felt safe. Well, fairly safe. Our return trip to the nature center was fairly...

PLANET FRAMED: March 2011

Wednesday, March 30, 2011. One of the nice things about this boardwalk is there are several covered lookouts with benches, so you can get out of the sun and hang out over the water. At Sawgrass, though, be sure not to hang out so far you fall in! It's funny to think those tiny gators will someday be her size, although for all their cuteness, they do have that gator badassness about them. Carolyn Ross - The Way Eye See It Photography. Great Florida Birding Trail. The Hammock was surveyed some 158 years ag...
