Musings From the Hammock Swing

Musings From the Hammock Swing. April 21, 2012. I canoe for a living. It’s pretty awesome that I get to spend my work hours in the outdoors. On river courses, we camp in tents on the land every night. In the Glades, there is no land to camp on, so we find little areas of water that are generally protected from wind, and anchor our canoes there. We then tie them together and lay boards across them to set up our “camp”. Sleep We were in bed before 9:30 every night. That isn’t common. 8220;Oh boy.”. 8220;An...

Musings From the Hammock Swing. Musings From the Hammock Swing. Glades Training →. Fruit Stands and Farmers Markets. March 30, 2012. One of my favorite things in the world are farmers or gardeners markets. I’m sure there is a difference between the two, but I don’t know what it is. Anyway, I love them. I love the atmosphere and the people there. I love to buy locally grown food and locally produced goods like soap and crafts. I loved the gardeners market in my hometown. Fruit from the local produce stand.

Musings From the Hammock Swing. Fruit Stands and Farmers Markets →. Musings From the Hammock Swing. March 23, 2012. I’ve decided to start a secondary blog. My mom’s blog is called Musings from the Grandma Chairs. You can read about how she got the name here. I liked the idea, and decided to run with it. That being said, I’m going to use my mom’s blog title, but alter it to my hippy personality; the hammock swing. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. And tagged hammock swing. Adventures with a Bucket: August 2012

http://adventureswithabucket.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Adventures with a Bucket. A lot can happen in a day. Tuesday, August 21, 2012. One of the things I love about my job is the moments when Mother Nature reminds us that she can squash us whenever she pleases. I am then so grateful when she doesn't wipe us out. If you observe these moments in "normal" life, you'll notice "normal" people running for cover and waiting out the storm. Bri cooking hotdogs as the storm develops some teeth behind her. We incorrectly assumed the storm would miss us. Right as di...

Adventures with a Bucket. A lot can happen in a day. Saturday, July 30, 2011. Getting to the other side of this big beautiful world. Our first look at the Opera House from the ferry. The group at the Opera House. Exactly a week earlier, I was in a similar city by the bay, watching tons of sailboats. Deja Vu. Bear with me, there's a lot of pictures of birds coming up. The group in front of the falls. I think Carson was about to fall down. Wallaby encounter. They're awfully cute. On our way back from the G...

Adventures with a Bucket. A lot can happen in a day. Monday, April 30, 2012. Adventures with Pajama Dave. What is it about having company that helps you see more of your town than you ever have on your own? I've lived in Fernandina for nearly three years now, yet in the past two days I've seen more of it and learned more about it than I have in all the time I've lived here. Thanks to a visit from mom and Kathleen! Boat Someone should take a look at this thing. Fishing with Ft. Clinch in the background.

Adventures with a Bucket. A lot can happen in a day. Monday, February 17, 2014. Going back was kind of strange, almost like seeing a ghost. Everything is still standing, but without the people and the passion that ran it, it was a car without an engine. Caitlin at the Mushroom. The flag outside the mushroom. The compass on the stairs. What remains of the Blue Peter flag, at the end of the mudwalk. Caitlin's reflection at the Mushroom. Labels: Outward Bound STEP. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Adventures with a Bucket. A lot can happen in a day. Sunday, February 26, 2012. A Sharp Breath of Cold Air. This post is a little late, but oh well. It was a bit of a shock to the system earlier this month to go from the 80 degrees and full on sun blast of the Everglades to 20 degrees in Boston. In the Everglades, it's easy to take the sunshine for granted some days, but emerging from the Subway to the view above reminded me how startling the sun can be. Trying out the Macro Lens. The trip was short and ...

Adventures with a Bucket: June 2012

http://adventureswithabucket.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Adventures with a Bucket. A lot can happen in a day. Monday, June 18, 2012. Well, it's been a quiet three weeks. Not a whole lot of adventures to report. I spent this time at home in Fernandina, recovering from surgery and witnessing some of the most amazing storms and skies that Florida has to offer. Sometimes the sky would turn inexplicably yellow. This picture almost captures how weird it looked. Dani trying to "stick em! You know, right before it started raining. Lightning over the ocean.
