Handmade for Charity - Handcrafting With Love

http://www.handcraftingwithlove.net/charity/hcharity.html

Shortcuts to: Charities Accepting Handmade Items. Other Lists of Charity Links. There are many organizations that are interested in receiving handmade items to be given to people in need of a bit of support. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. While your individual contribution may seem too small to matter, if many of us contribute in our own small way it adds up. And what we do does make a difference to some one. Contact your local hospital and ask for Volunteer Services. If you kno...

Easy Ripple Afghan - Free Crochet Pattern - Handcrafting With Love

http://www.handcraftingwithlove.net/yarn/pat-ripple.html

This afghan works up fairly quickly and is good for charity projects. Worsted weight acrylic yarn in desired colors. About 12 ounces each of 3 different colors (36 ounces total) will make a 40 inch by 60 inch afghan (the ideal size for Project Linus). I made a 40 inch by 60 inch afghan using 10 three ounce skeins of variegated yarn. Sport or baby sport yarn. I made a 42 inch by 39 inch afghan with about 21 ounces of baby sport yarn. Crochet hook size I for worsted weight yarn. Worsted wt. yarn. Dc in 3rd...

Handcrafting With Love: Summer Bolero Shrug

http://handcraftingwithlove.blogspot.com/2006/07/summer-bolero-shrug.html

My crafting adventures with fiber. Monday, July 31, 2006. This crocheted summer bolero shrug is what I was designing last week. I had to be a bit secretive as my family reads this blog and the shrug was a birthday present for my stepsister, Sharon. Next it was time to sit down and make some test swatches. This was needed to choose a pattern stitch and to determine my gauge so I knew how many to chain to start the shrug. I made a small sketch of the shrug with dimensions noted. Then I created ...Working t...

Handcrafting With Love: Quick, Cuddly Blanket

http://handcraftingwithlove.blogspot.com/2010/05/quick-cuddly-blanket.html

My crafting adventures with fiber. Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Quick, Cuddly Blanket. I cut holes to crochet into with a wonderful specialty rotary cutter blade called a skip-stitch blade. You have to have rotary cutting tools, but as a quilter, I'm well equipped with rotary cutting tools. You can order the skip-stitch blade from the manufacturer at skipstitch.com. Or from the Project Linus store. There are 3 varieties of skip-stitch blades. Use the "Original" skip-stitch blade on fleece. Ive never seen thi...

Handcrafting With Love: Quilting Update

http://handcraftingwithlove.blogspot.com/2013/02/quilting-update.html

My crafting adventures with fiber. Saturday, February 16, 2013. I finished quilting both Diagonal Puzzle and Life's Ups and Downs, so they are ready to turn in at our Project Linus meeting tomorrow. Once all the zig-zags were quilted through the black squares, I used a chalk pencil to mark half way between the points of the zig-zags and quilted a set of zig-zags through those points so the stitching was close enough to hold the batting securely. You can see that better in the close up picture below.
