Pleasant & Delightful: April 2012

http://melissaweaves.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Traditional hand weaving, tartans and fine linens; traditional and ethnic knitting and a little spinning on the side. Lots of music, too - old songs from Ireland, Scotland and England. We squeezed 19 students and spinning wheels into the newly opened Barefoot Weavers Studio. Thank you, Beth! This is an under appreciated category of weaving and I wa...

We love weaving!

What do YOU weave? My first Guild meeting! Tivo gets a new toy. Woodstock Weavers' Guild Annual Show. New to rigid heddle looms. Nov 26th, 2010 @ 12:34 pm. Basic question here: I threaded a loom to weave a rug and my warp is showing - what did I do wrong? I only want a weft face. I used 3 ply natural 100% worsted wool warp (doubled) and 3 ply rug wool yarn (doubled ) set at 4 epi and I have beaten hard - yet it's still about 50-50 look of warp and weft. Oct 2nd, 2006 @ 11:12 pm. My first Guild meeting!

Most often I use natural fibers, frequently adding a bit of metallic, wood or shells for accent. In addition to the wallhangings on display, I make a variety of other items including pillows, placemats, table runners, vests and scarves. My work has been exhibited at various craft shows and shops including an Annual Holiday Show in my Reston Studio and special exhibits including one person and group showings of my wallhangings as well as Northern Virginia Crafters Guild shows. Samples of my work.
