Sunday, March 25, 2007. Field excursion to Slakbreen. Mathilda, the fully packed bandwagon, and me. Carmen inside the band wagon, Juho on a scooter outside. The weather got worse by the minute, but we kept going as long as we could. We had 5 students and 1 teacher on scooters and 4 students and 1 teacher in the band wagon. The scooters were supposed to get to the cabin we were to live in the next 4 days about twice as fast as the band wagon, so that they could start heating it up and preparing it. Ja, de...

Thursday, May 3, 2007. 2 weeks of field work on a scientific cruise. An iceberg we found far North. We put out a buoy on it. Crossing 80 degrees North. The ship, R/V Lance in the midnight sun. Measuring the albedo in Wahlenbergfjorden. A visiting airplane, doing measurements of the ice thickness. Sending up a weather balloon. Crazy Finnish student "enjoying" the -2 degrees cold water. Our visitor from above (the owner of the tracks). We got a chance to see the small research settlement Ny-Ålesund.

Saturday, April 14, 2007. Easter holidays on Svalbard! We met Jonas, Helle's boyfriend, on the plane from Oslo to LYR. After we left the Easter Boogie at Oppdal, Bent came with me to Svalbard, for a week's visit during his Easter holidays. Finally I got a chance to show him a little bit of what this place is all about! We got to do lots of scooter driving and other fun Svalbard-things :). Bent in front of the UNIS-building. Saturday, April 14, 2007. Pål and my previous canopy, a very cute, lego-colored Sabre2, to the left :). The first 4-5 days of the Easter holidays, I spent at the Easter Boogie in Oppdal, south of Trondheim, with Bent and the other skydivers from NTNU Fallskjermklubb.
