Haphazard Homemaking: A Sentimental Tablecloth Meets My Grandma's Sewing Machine
http://haphazardhomemaking.blogspot.com/2011/06/sentimental-tablecloth-meets-my.html
Saturday, June 11, 2011. A Sentimental Tablecloth Meets My Grandma's Sewing Machine. Why had I kept this stained, used tablecloth? As I looked fondly at this tablecloth, I realized that it wasn't doing much good being stored away due to sentimental value. I would never use it because of the stains, but I couldn't bring myself to throw it away due to all the fond memories I associated with it. And then it hit me. Then I pulled out my grandma's sewing machine and I was flooded with a new set of memories.
Haphazard Homemaking: Thankful for Abundant Strawberries
http://haphazardhomemaking.blogspot.com/2011/06/thankful-for-abundant-strawberries.html
Thursday, June 23, 2011. Thankful for Abundant Strawberries. What started as a single strawberry plant purchased at a Master Gardener's plant sale about 6 years ago has turned into two full-to-the-brim beds of incredibly healthy strawberry plants. Even more, these strawberries have spread so far and wide that I have been able to share starts with many friends, helping them start their own strawberry beds. So far my lovingly neglectful treatment of my plants has worked out very well. Today, as I really pi...

Monday, November 22, 2010. Since I started taking the sourdough course at GNOWFGLINS. I have attempted several different sourdough recipes. One of our favorites so far is crackers. I had been in such a cracker conundrum. Years ago I bought crackers like Wheat Thins, Triscuits, Ritz, Saltines, Cheez-its and Goldfish. Since we have turned to more natural and organic foods, we have not found a decent replacement for these crackers. There are some that are alright, but they sure are expensive! 2 Cover cracke...

Monday, June 27, 2011. Ocean Shores Sandcastle Competition 2011. For years I wondered how "those" amazing sandcastles were created. How did they get them so tall? How did they carve them so intricately? My sandcastle making experience was limited to the simple child's method of filling a bucket with wet sand, dumping it out, and then seeing what resulted before the tide came in and washed it all away. Do you want to know what it takes to make a real. Let me share the wet and grimy details with you. You c...

Saturday, January 29, 2011. My Perfect Cup of Coffee. My coffee journey began sometime in junior high. It was pretty popular to be one of the kids who drank coffee. Of course, at that age, I really did not like the bitter flavor. When coffee was available, I mixed it with hot chocolate and called it my coffee. What I actually preferred was the sweetness of the chocolate. When our first little bundle of joy arrived and our income reduced to practically poverty level, I decided that my special coffee drink...

Two people in love with each other, their baby and their life in the city. I hesitated about sharing these here, but think the accountability will do us good and might put this in a separate tab at the top, crossing them off, or commenting, as we go. My dear friend of almost a decade and half wrote a great piece on the difference between goals and resolutions here. And it has stuck with me all month. So here we go, 2011 you are going to be great! Document my own recipes, gather and sort. Read: The Key To...

http://bringingupbabyinthecity.blogspot.com/2012/04/sweet-settings.html
Two people in love with each other, their baby and their life in the city. This year I am hosting a small brunch after church on Sunday and thought I would share my low-cost idea. Turkey Sausages with Apples sliced diagonally. Turkey Bacon, Spinach and Fontina Frittata. Adapted from that recipe). For the Table Settings I am painting some lovely little eggs I. Found on-line and put. Initials on the egg. (see photo below). The feel is relaxed garden and I think it will be great! We would love to hear!

Two people in love with each other, their baby and their life in the city. Having done this for years at work and home this seemed like an easy, nap-time appropriate event. Two days later I have remembered a little. Our printer likes imports. That said I have had FANTASTIC luck using the templates at Gartner Studios. Having used them after purchasing their products in the past this little nugget of information popped into my head right before IT was about to explode. Christmas All Year Long. Baby Love is...

Self-sufficiency for the lazy. Our vegetable garden did rather better than expected this year. It's been a late, cool summer (which seems to have vaporized already) and I didn't figure we'd get much so I've been pleasantly surprised. Our pole beans struggled all summer looking yellow and leggy. Now they are a nice dark green and lush. We've picked about half a pound of those with lots more tiny pods on the vines. I need to work up the nerve and dig up the Potato Experiment. The crop I'm most hopeful abou...
Tales from the Haphazard Hooker
Tales from the Haphazard Hooker. Asymp; Leave a comment. I’ve been mulling over wether to write about this for a while now seeing as nobody (myself included) likes a whiner. I’ve tried incredibly hard to avoid anything that could be construed as being Woe Is Me (I.e 99% of the contents of my head). To date, friends aside, I have sold three items. Yes, three. I’ve had no complaints and the buyers liked their purchases. I’ve played the whole networking game. I’ve had special offers and discounts. Until the...
