Down In The Root Cellar: John Middleton Nall - Confederate POW
http://downintherootcellar.blogspot.com/2015/08/john-middleton-nall-confederate-pow.html
Down In The Root Cellar. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. John Middleton Nall - Confederate POW. My recent post on Thomas Franklin Rutherford. And the resources I came across while researching has prompted me to research another Confederate War ancestor. My 3rd great grandfather, John Middleton Nall. Sometime between 1850 and 1857 when I find my next record, this Nall family traveled about 650 miles to Rusk County, TX (Nathan Harris Nall's widows pension application says that the family moved here in 1857).

http://downintherootcellar.blogspot.com/2015/07/thomas-franklin-rutherford-confederate.html
Down In The Root Cellar. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Thomas Franklin Rutherford - Confederate POW. I haven't really been keeping up with the 52 Ancestors prompts this month for a litany of reasons. Mainly I haven't had much time for research with the kids home during the summer. This morning when I checked my Facebook there was an invitation to submit stories to a webpage chronicling the lives of Tippah County Confederate Soldiers. I have one of those! And his great grandmother here. Farmington on 9 May....

Down In The Root Cellar. Sunday, August 23, 2015. Grass Widows And The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. This blog post will be LONG and maybe a bit convoluted, but it is as an attempt at explaining how old newspaper articles helped me from getting the wrong story on a certain branch of my family tree. Before Mary Shivers, Alford Wooliver was married to Sinai Compton. They were married 17 May 1835 in Johnson County, MO. All the people named above were indeed children of Alford's then we can. When Annie sh...

Down In The Root Cellar: When So Much Loss Leaves You Restless
http://downintherootcellar.blogspot.com/2015/06/when-so-much-loss-leaves-you-restless.html
Down In The Root Cellar. Saturday, June 20, 2015. When So Much Loss Leaves You Restless. This week the prompt from No Story Too Small. Is 'Halfway'. This left me stumped. I reached out to my SIL, who writes over at Days of Our Lives. But let's start at the beginning. Jesse Josiah McClung was they youngest son born to Solomon Reece McClung and Winey Lawson Newman. (I believe this is who my grandmother, Winnie Sue Jones. Was named after.) He was born 21 March 1853, in Haralson County, Georgia. On the 14th ...

Thursday, April 26, 2012. Ancestry.com Restricts Access to Website. Last night Judy G. Russell, author of the Legal Genealogist blog. Last night Judy mentioned that Ancestry.com recently changed their terms of service. At the end of March 2012. The specific part that she mentioned related to the topic of Limited Use License. The recent changes now restrict use of the Ancestry.com website and images to personal use only:. Where does that leave professional genealogists and bloggers? Perhaps I've misunders...
