The Day Before Henry. February 20, 2016. Here I sit on the night before my son's first birthday. I can hardly believe how fast this year has gone. And, in some ways, how slow. It's impossible to describe. Jason had just surprised me by refinishing our bathtub. It was old, rusty and gross before he got it redone but I took baths in it all of my pregnancy anyways because I loved how relaxing it was. Epsom salts came in bulk to our house : ). 6 hours later at 6am my water broke. February 20, 2016.

February 29, 2016. Looking back on it now, I think it's a little silly that I felt badly about the way the birth went.but my feelings of shame were very real after he was born and for quite awhile after. The fact that I wasn't this badass warrior during labor kept bothering me. Now that Henry has turned one and I have gone through a whole year of #momlife (the good, the bad, the stinky) it's time to write down my story and let go of any remaining shame. My story is my story and I am proud of that now.
