FOUNDER and CHIEF TRAINER. Since early childhood, Claudette Nita knew she was going to work with animals. Her love and compassion for them led to her volunteering at humane societies and vet clinics, as well as taking in strays and helping injured wildlife. Claudette advocates the use of positive reinforcement and behaviour-shaping techniques to stimulate cats into wanting to learn. Cats cannot be forced into training – they must have the desire themselves or they will not perform altogether.

The most important aspect of the relationship you have with your cat is respect. If you understand your cat’s body language and boundaries, your relationship will flourish. At Happy Kitty, we work with you one-on-one to teach you how to achieve this important element. We teach you the behaviour you can expect from your pet – and vice versa. All these behaviors – and more – are trainable. Through redirection and cues, cats learn how to offer the appropriate behaviour in a given situation.
