Light as a Feather

Monday, July 11, 2011. In my house, there are several piles of stuff. Mostly it's stuff I want to keep, little odds and ends like bike oil, camera cords, the cat's laser toy. Surely there is a better way to keep it? My solution so far is the pocket organizer! Here it is finished and hanging up next to my bulletin board. Here's how I made it. Step Five: Finishing. Turn the thing right side out through the hole you left at the top. I top stitched across the top at this point, and also across the bo...When ...

Light as a Feather: Denim Bag

http://www.happyscrappies.blogspot.com/2011/05/denim-bag.html

Monday, May 30, 2011. This morning I made this denim bag using the directions found here: http:/ www.craftster.org/forum/index.php? Cute as it is, though, I plan to put this bag in the car to use as a garbage bag. Since I'm trying not to bring new plastic bags into my house there has been a lack of garbage bags for the car. I made this bag out of two layers of denim so that it will be both heavy duty and washable. We'll see how it works! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Happy Scrappy Knitted Dino!

Light as a Feather: Happy Scrappy Knitted Dino!

http://www.happyscrappies.blogspot.com/2011/05/happy-scrappy-knitted-dino.html

Saturday, May 28, 2011. Happy Scrappy Knitted Dino! I just knitted this dinosaur. I mostly followed the pattern found here http:/ www.xtreme-knitting.com/photos-dinosaurs.htm. I had a medium ball left over, and this is the result! I think I still have enough to make another dino, maybe a stegosaurus? June 1, 2011 at 11:51 PM. Your knitting is an inspiration, I tell you! Awesome dino, so cute :D. June 12, 2011 at 11:50 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Happy Scrappy Knitted Dino!

Light as a Feather: June 2011

http://www.happyscrappies.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 24, 2011. I was watching The Story of Stuff (see http:/ www.storyofstuff.org/. When the narrator, Annie, said something that really disturbed me. She said, "Our primary identity has become that of being consumers." Of course, the whole video is a little scary, being about the dark underbelly of our consumer economy. That comment, though, really hit me. Our primary identity is as a consumer? Or, maybe I don't want to define myself at all. Maybe I'm just Noella. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Simple living. Simply loving.: June 2012

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Saturday, June 30, 2012. To see most of these plants a month ago. It's kind of crazy how fast they grow! I dug five shrubs out of here yesterday. (Don't worry, I gave them away. I have nothing against the innocent shrubs.) I am planning to use. This space mostly for an herb garden. It's hard to see, but I currently. Have two sunflowers and a calendula plant (provided by our CSA). Along with some rosemary (kindly given to me by our neighbor). The peppers are starting to look ...

Simple living. Simply loving.: April 2012

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Sunday, April 29, 2012. Baking Day Chaos, Life Chaos. This week felt somewhat chaotic. It was a bit busier than usual, and parts of my schedule got shifted around. On Wednesday morning, I agreed to substitute for a couple of classes on Thursday. I quickly realized that this meant that my baking day needed to move, so I started whipping things up in the kitchen before I taught my own classes that afternoon. The queue for the oven. Soon as the rest of the crackers emerge.

Simple living. Simply loving.: We pray for peace

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012/12/we-pray-for-peace.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Friday, December 7, 2012. We pray for peace. Matthew and I have been reading the book Practicing Peace: A Devotional Walk Through the Quaker Tradition. I've been mulling through some thoughts about peace, and I think I'm ready to put some of my thoughts into words. To believe that peace is possible, and I have to live like I believe it. How many relationships have I soured through my own attitude? How many times have I argued my case (because I'm right, of course! I am inspi...

Simple living. Simply loving.: Smoosh Birth

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2014/05/smoosh-birth.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Conveniently, my next appointment with the midwives was late that afternoon. When I told her about the bloody show, she said that in her experience, it meant that labor was coming sooner rather than later and that I should be ready. We set up the birth tub that night in case I did go into labor soon. It was missing the tub liner, which caused perfectionist Karen to get a little worried. (What if I needed it THAT NIGHT? I didn't sleep the rest of the ...

Simple living. Simply loving.: And so we vote!

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012/11/and-so-we-vote.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Tuesday, November 6, 2012. And so we vote! I have felt compelled to write about the 2012 election a few times either on Facebook on my blog. Each time I start typing, my words fall short of the ideas in my head, and I worry that I will add to the drivel of election season. Heaven forbid! Finally, as election day has arrived, I think that I have figured out the words that I wish to add to the "conversation". So what do I want to add to all of it? Bring peace to the world.

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Thursday, May 31, 2012. Chickens make me laugh. There's something about the mannerisms. The frantic flapping, the funny noises, the little legs running wildly. Amusing is the word to use for chickens. Jumped up on my hand before. Usually I get close to her and she let's out her characteristic, "Rrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr rrr! Not tonight. It was cuddle time. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Where did all this GREEN come from? It seems like spring was just beginning. But it seems to live on.

Simple living. Simply loving.: Smoosh Belly

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2014/05/smoosh-belly.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Thursday, May 15, 2014. I need to write out Evan's birth story, but pregnancy precedes birth, so this story must come first. I found out that I was pregnant in mid-September. I was at a co-op conference all that day wondering if I possibly might be. You're supposed to test in the morning, but I had already waited a few days and was impatient, so I tested that evening. Positive! Beets also were in season at this time. I could successfully hide these in a chocolate beet ca...

Simple living. Simply loving.: looking back, looking ahead

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012/10/end-of-summer-looking-back-looking-ahead.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Friday, October 12, 2012. Looking back, looking ahead. First, let's celebrate the end of summer. These are some of my very own tomatoes. Delicious. What a lovely creature! It's amazing that few months ago,. This beautiful chicken was a scrawny little fuzzball. Never in my wildest dreams growing up did I imagine harvesting. My own sunflower seeds. This melon grew from a seed that germinated in the worm bin. A blue heron surveying our pond. The warm days and lack of rain.

http://insideout7.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Simple living. Simply loving. Sunday, July 29, 2012. The garden at the end of July. It's fun to look back a month ago. To see how big all these plants have gotten in the past month! You can't help but love the fluffy chicken butts. These plants needed water. They have since received some. A few winter squash getting watered. The sunflowers are getting big! Next year I will hopefully get more herbs growing. In this area. The perennial lavender, rosemary, and sage are a good start, though. Plus lavender an...
