Wednesday, August 12, 2015. 8/7/15 Portage Cove to Yankee Harbor. 0600 we had a calm wind in anchorage and we got under weigh at 0610, West bound. Almost immediately we met a large Southwest swell and Southwest wind waves came following. The Willie Dawes did a lot of climbing over waves, sliding through troughs, and generally banging around. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. 8/6/15: Out of Bras D'Ors Lakes. After showers and goodbyes at St Peters Marina, we headed toward the bridge, canal and lock out of Bras d'Or Lake. We locked thru with a lobster boat and headed out into a Stiff West wind, 20 knots. We made for Lennox Passage as it seemed a bit windy to cross the lower portion of Chedabucto Bay. Friday, July 31, 2015. July 29 Pilot Whales. Staying in Wood Island right next to the ferry terminals sounded like a good idea until the ferries came in for the night and left their lights on and their generators running all night. We were up at dawn to untie and leave before they made the first run at 6:30 am. Already cars were lined up, waiting to board. It was good to leave that behind. Saturday, August 1, 2015. 30, 31 July, 2015 SE-NW, Canso, Bras d'Or Lake, St Peters. The lock, which dropped us only a couple feet had some current flowing thru it and I made a less than stellar landing down current, then the lock-master tied us right up tight, which made our lines get tight when the water dropped. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. August 1-5: 2015 Bras d'Or Lake. Sunday morning we were underway at 0800 and heading back to St. Peters to participate in the Nicholas Denys Days Swim to save the Lighthouse. The swim is from the bridge end of the canal to the lock, then continue on to the beach at Battery Provincial Park.
