Gough and Tunmer proposed that reading comprehension could be explained by using an equation. RC=D x C, where the D stands for decoding and the C stands for Language Comprehension. If a persons ability to decode drops to zero then their language comprehension will as well. This shows that both are important because they both rely on and affect each other.
