Sorry, but my average time between posts is approximately too long. Seattle: You suck at driving in the snow (and in many ways, all the time). Quick update for those who may not know what I’m up to: I am now a quarter century old (some photos below). I work at Canlis. Time has gone by very quickly since I last wr...

Infinite | My Dominican Adventure

What I'm Up To. Wow So it has been roughly three months since an update. On one hand, I feel like there’s not much to report. On the other, it has been three months, so of course there are things to report. I’ll start with something I wrote while still in the DR which has been sitting here in purgatory the last several months, and then we’ll go from there:. Infinite significance. If you have read. Man’s Search for Meaning. This is my last in-country blog post. Was treated as though they were more importa...

Parents! | My Dominican Adventure
https://jarrettinthedr.wordpress.com/2010/02/26/parents
What I'm Up To. Eventually we made it to the beach for a lovely few hours; we are in the Caribbean after all! After returning to Santo Domingo, we went out for a nice tapas dinner at Plaza España. They had never had Spanish food before, so I was more than happy to introduce them. After dinner, we headed over to the merengue concert, one of my favorite activities here in the capital and in the country overall. Tapas dinner in Plaza España. The Puerta del Conde (Door to the Conde). This gate has played...

Carnaval y mas | My Dominican Adventure
https://jarrettinthedr.wordpress.com/2010/03/03/carnaval-y-mas
What I'm Up To. The last two weekends have been full of fun as I’ve experienced some of the most-recommended things to do here in the DR. The biggest is Carnaval. The craziness is just multiplied. I’ve gone to La Vega, the largest parade in the country, the last two weekends, and the blowout finale of Carnaval will be here in Santo Domingo this coming Sunday. Some pictures (Madeleine don’t worry, I’m fine! Me with a diablo cojuelo (lame devil). Creepy. I hope these children arent scarred for life. So I’v...

I'm Going to Write This Down… Read At Your Own Risk. My thoughts on life, work, international economic development, or whatever else I feel like writing about. February 9, 2011. Recently the student newspaper at Seattle Pacific University, my former school, released this article. The SPU article has been picked up by The Stranger, Seattle’s beloved, very left-oriented and barely censored weekly newspaper. In a quick and very likely deserved bash, this blog. On The Falcon’s website, I commented:. And I...

I'm Going to Write This Down… Read At Your Own Risk. My thoughts on life, work, international economic development, or whatever else I feel like writing about. December 8, 2010. I am frustrated. Really, really frustrated. I don’t mind being insulted by some idiot who likes to get in fights. I don’t mind getting laughed at for not being trendy or wearing the right clothes. These things are meaningless to me. I. Get upset, however, when my character is questioned. Bearing with one another and, if one has a...
