I Wouldn't Read This If I Was Me: June 2011
http://mrscribbler.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
I Wouldn't Read This If I Was Me. Thursday, June 02, 2011. Bad, bad me. As I just haven't been in the mood to write much here. It's not as though nothing's happening. I've kept relatively busy helping D. with her work, doing this and that around the house, painting my Deluxe Office - I'll be moving the computer, my books, and assorted stuff down there soon - and, on occasion, heading out for small adventures. Valentino" had good taste in places to play. When I manage to get some good images, or at le...

I Wouldn't Read This If I Was Me: April 2011
http://mrscribbler.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
I Wouldn't Read This If I Was Me. Saturday, April 30, 2011. In Sandy Bay. But we didn't soak up much of the spring sunshine. D and I spent much of the glorious, sunny afternoon indoors, getting the framing up for the Sumptuous Office Complex. To be fair, I have to say D. did the lion's (lioness's? Nonetheless, a few hours' work brought forth a pretty nifty result. The more we do, the less fits into a photo. Actually, I'm also thinking it will be good simply to have the space done up enough to use. Th...

I Wouldn't Read This If I Was Me: August 2012
http://mrscribbler.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
I Wouldn't Read This If I Was Me. Sunday, August 05, 2012. Signs that make you say "hmmmmm.". I guess this one would qualify, yes? D and I were recently in New Bedford visiting some of her family. We happened to see this while driving through town; I must say I'm glad I wasn't driving, as I probably would have run into something while digging out my camera. I don't think they were Budweisers, though. You might say I'm a believer in the Separation of Church and Beer. Or not. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Bernard's Backwater: March 2013
http://tracker-bar.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
A quiet backwater at Cookham. Wednesday, 27 March 2013. Scratching Around for a Subject. I once knew someone who really ‘got the ‘ump‘ if ever you said. 8220;Long time - no see“. I don‘t know why it upset her; but it did. However, it is true that not many of you have seen Unc B around for quite a while. Not a bad thing necessarily, as ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’, as my Granny used to say if us lads hadn’t been round to see her for a while. 8220;Only what’s on the menu.”. Not at the same time of...

Bernard's Backwater: Water, water, everywhere.
http://tracker-bar.blogspot.com/2013/01/water-water-everywhere.html
A quiet backwater at Cookham. Saturday, 5 January 2013. Water, water, everywhere. My previous post showed quite a bit of shallow flooding around Bourne End over the Festive season and I was wondering, how things were at Marlow, further upstream, and at Cookham in the other direction. The river was 'up' however at Marlow Bridge and was just starting to flood the park. Below the lock it was a totally different matter. The River is normally 12ft. lower here. Just imagine trying to get house insurance here?

Bernard's Backwater: The REAL Organ Grinder's Monkey
http://tracker-bar.blogspot.com/2011/07/real-organ-grinders-monkey.html
A quiet backwater at Cookham. Tuesday, 5 July 2011. The REAL Organ Grinder's Monkey. Now this is something that was very common years ago. Some said it was cruel to keep the monkey on a chain,. But this one seems very happy,. And is obviously loved by his owner. It is just a pity the organ is out of tune! I am sure it is cruel but if the monkey has never known different, it doesnt know it could be out there running up trees, maybe. I dont know. Maybe the owner takes it climbing himself. And She Found It.

Bernard's Backwater: Using Vista Movie Maker.
http://tracker-bar.blogspot.com/2011/07/using-vista-movie-maker.html
A quiet backwater at Cookham. Saturday, 9 July 2011. Using Vista Movie Maker. Using Vista Movie Maker. I had many, many goes at this and wasted quite a few hours. Well, maybe not wasted for you can always learn by your mistakes. The first thing I would advise is - “be prepared“. Create a new folder, something like ‘My videos‘ to work from. I find it easier to work from a single point, rather than searching all over the place for various pictures and MP3 tracks later. It pays to get it right. These exampl...

I Remember Him ‘Cos…. Dickieboy…………. Paper-Boy, Chorister, and all-round playboy! How Did We Survive? July 13, 2015. My mum used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread butter on bread on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn’t seem to get food poisoning. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers, but I can’t remember getting e. Coli. I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of m...

The Mummy's Bracelet: April 2011
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 17, 2011. There is useful stuff on various websites about what people actually do with their PhDs. I found Beyond the PhD. To do There were even a couple of profiles for people who ended up in research support (fancy that, a bit like me! Hhmm, so it looks like that's the start of my post-doc action plan for now, I suppose. Blogs are good for thinking things through, particularly when you've exhausted real people's ears on the subject you're endlessly pondering. View my complete profile.
