Sunday, January 26, 2014. Tried it.and liked it: Braised Venison. I like to cook and I like venison so naturally I like to cook venison. I'm always scouring the internet to find something different from my usual rotation of venison recipes. I think I may have found a keeper: Braised Venison with Rosemary and Shiitake. Here's what you'll need:. 2 tablespoons bacon grease. 1 1/2 lbs of venison cut into bite size pieces. 2 medium chopped onions. 4 minced garlic cloves. 2 cups dry red wine. Bring to a boil, ...

Thursday, April 3, 2014. Throwback Thursday Deer Camp Pic. In honor of Throwback Thursday, I recently came across this photo from when I was a kid making my first trips to deer camp. Learned a lot at Moring Hunting Club: how to play in the mud, killed my first deer, snuck around and dipped Skoal (and immediately got sick) but most of all made some good memories and great friends. No, this isn't a movie poster for The Lost Boys. Deer slayer in the making. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Outdoor tips and tricks.

Monday, February 17, 2014. Mamma Mia that's a good meatball! This might be the best venison recipe, other than throwing a big deer steak on the grill, that I have ever made. I won't waste anymore time typing so you can get to the kitchen and make this now! 1-1/2 lbs ground venison. 1/4 cup dry parsley. 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese. 3 finely chopped garlic cloves. Take your browned meat balls and put i...

From The Peavine: Early season success!
http://www.fromthepeavine.com/2013/10/early-season-success.html
Tuesday, October 15, 2013. This past Saturday I finally made my first hunting trip of the year. While archery season has been open here in Arkansas since September 28th, the weather hasn't cooled off enough to make me want to go. I'm not much on stepping around snakes. So I decided to wait until the hot temps left the state. Well, the cool off coincided with the Modern Gun Antlerless Hunt. The hunt was for private land only so I packed up Friday night and headed to deer camp. Chasing frogs in the rain.
