The Woollen Thread: Tomorrow Never Comes
http://harrietwoollard.blogspot.com/2011/03/tomorrow-never-comes.html
Wednesday, 2 March 2011. I apologise for the lack of my blog in the last 9 months or so. Its been terrible I know. I blame it on end of year exams firstly, then being crazy busy over summer, and then with my whole year in Industry malarky. But mostly its because I'm terribly lazy and have no real need to continue it - there is no teacher telling me that I have to or no job application as yet. Back to a summary:. August - December: I spent 5 months in Paris! A high end fashion designer. Its all been very ...
The Woollen Thread: October 2009
http://harrietwoollard.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 26 October 2009. This was my favourite video from the exhibition. I just think it is incredible how he transforms furniture into clothing, something that from what I know, has never been attempted by other designers. I think that this was inspired by refugees, to show how they are continuously moving, and are practically wearing their wardrobe or house. I visited his exhibition in the Design Museum in London last Easter, and have been meaning to some how document my opinions of him ever since.
The Woollen Thread: An Overdue Update
http://harrietwoollard.blogspot.com/2012/07/overdue-update.html
Tuesday, 10 July 2012. Welcome to my newly edited and updated blog. I've not been on here in a very long time as I've been busy finishing my degree and sorting myself out. I am now hopefully sorted. Here is a speedy update of the last 12 months:. July 2011 = Finished working at Sue Wong in LA, where I learnt a lot about the American fashion industry as well as aspects of PR and events. Me with Sue Wong. Me with the SW team. Aquascutum Menswear A/W 2011. Dr Noki Menswear A/W 2011. April = As part of my de...
The Woollen Thread: January 2010

Friday, 15 January 2010. From an extensive collection of randomly found objects, Paul Elliman has designed 'Bits' - an ongoing typographic design project. 'His survey of the detritus of contemporary urban experience establishes the designer as a conduit between the blank abstractions of the soft city existence and the kinetic rush of individuals careering through it's spaces, knocking bits off as they go'. He believes that the city is talking to him. Typography and Jenny Holzer. One person who stuck out ...
The Woollen Thread: The Washington Post
http://harrietwoollard.blogspot.com/2011/03/washington-post.html
Wednesday, 2 March 2011. I'm in the Washington Post. I'm definitely way too over excited about this. Carie Lemack came to Sue Wong to find a dress for the Oscars. She was nominated for Best Documentary (Short Subject) for the film 'Killing in the Name', directed by Jed Rothstein, co-produced by Carie Lemack. I think it looks really interesting. Sorry, not very designer related. 21 June 2011 at 10:05. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). London, United Kingdom. View my complete profile.

The Woollen Thread: February 2010
http://harrietwoollard.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Monday, 22 February 2010. Looking into Romanticism’s context helped me to explore themes and cultivate a link between Romanticism and knit. Romanticism appears to be a very complex artistic and literary movement that arose in the second half of the 18. I was inspired by the trickling effect and wanted to experiment with different mediums in order to portray movement. This idea further, I cut between the lines of the dispersed paint and put graph paper behind it. I think I will be designing for a haute co...
The Woollen Thread: March 2010
http://harrietwoollard.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 19 March 2010. Embarrassingly, when given the topic on journeys, I became extremely interested and intrigued by the whole idea of tube maps and how they have developed over the years. I turned into a massive 'anorak' (I think they're sometimes known as) and researched back to the beginnings of the first ever tube map (1908). And this is todays map, that most of you will recognise - the distinctive yellow bottle shape:. When finding ideas for where my knitted designs would lead me, I found. Really...

Zufall. hasard. random. Der Raum, den es zu dekorieren galt, war ja fast ein Luftschloss. (Edvard Munch). L’espace qu’il convenait de décorer rappelait presque un château en Espagne. The space which was about to be decorated, was almost like a castle in the air. Auf dem Gebiet der Fotografie bin ich Autodidaktin.
