Harrow: Malawi 2011: Day 4 - Going Up!
http://harrowmalawi2011.blogspot.com/2011/07/day-4-going-up.html
Day 4 - Going Up! The day started 30 minutes earlier again today as the boys attempted to make best use of the daylight, requiring a 7.30am departure. Work began immediately that everyone arrived on site, with the various teams of boys dividing themselves up quickly and getting on with the tasks at hand. Everything appeared to be going very smoothly and there was a push to complete the floor by lunchtime; this was until the pile of gravel rapidly disappeared until finally the concreting had to stop at.

Day 6 - Bricks, Bricks and more Bricks. Whilst the bricks were being laid, the final trusses also took shape. The team responsible for this were able to complete the job in just two days, not the three that had been allocated for it. These are now ready and waiting for the columns to be completed; the boys are already asking how these massive structures are going to be lifted up. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The first map shows whereabouts in Africa the project will be taking place. (Each red square is detailed in the mpa below.). This third map shows exactly where in Malawi the different elements of the trip will be taking place. To give some sense of the scale of this map Lake Chilwa is about 20 miles across. The foundations are being dug ahead of our arrival on July 9th. Please have a look at the photo gallery to see the progress that has been made. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Day 10 - Seven Trusses. One question had been on everyone’s minds since the project began, “How would the trusses be lifted into place? A little bit of brute force and intelligence went a long way and the truss was where it needed to be. After this lunch was taken and upon return everything was done that bit more carefully; everyone had their jobs, knew what they were doing and the potential problems were known. Nearing completion and still on time! Keep up the good work those children deserve it! It mus...
