Having a full-time staff person dedicated to working with existing businesses to ensure their continued growth and development within the ward. Using existing TIF and SBIF programs to encourage new businesses to choose the 48th Ward as their new home. Creating two job incubators for the Ward to help local entrepreneurs looking to start new businesses in the community. One would be located in Edgewater, the other in Uptown. Continuing to strongly support early childhood education and fight for its expansion to all Chicago Public Schools. Supporting expansion of the IB Program at Peirce Elementary. Increasing the mentoring, coaching, and professional development of our teachers. Expanding performance-based bonus programs, like the Teachers Incentive Fund. To support and retain quality teachers. Improving the evaluation system for our teachers and principals to judge their effectiveness in the classroom and school.

As Alderman, Harry’s top priority will be public safety; he believes that enhancing our schools, parks, libraries and business districts is fruitless if our neighbors do not feel safe. If elected, he will work with the police, community organizations and neighbors to develop a safety plan for each area of our ward and together the community will reduce violence and make the streets safer for all residents. Adding 1,000 new police to our streets. Targeting gang hot spots for increased police patrol.
