Gardening journey. #ImpulsiveGarden. Project P.R.F. (Perpetual Rabbit Food). Or the other way 'round. Keeping ourselves in salad greens this year thus far has been pretty darn easy. Lettuce, which can disappoint with bolting, wilting or just plain refusing to grow has actually loved this cool, wet weather which we've been having. The next step, keeping all this abundance up during winter is. In hand (my new BFF, who joins Francis Rose and David Attenborough as BFFs who as of yet may. In the meantime, whi...

Today the greenhouse, which for so long has been a place of refuge and shelter, has at last begun to become unbearable to work in in anything more than flip-flops and a vest-top. One advantage,.' I told my self as I unstuck another plastic plant label from behind my knee, 'is it's possibly that much better for the cuttings.'. Let's hope the cuttings take. ;). You Might Also Like. Salad Box II - The Impulsive Gardener
http://www.theimpulsivegardener.com/2012/07/salad-box-ii.html
Gardening journey. #ImpulsiveGarden. Hey now. Check these guys out! Remember those seeds I sowed just earlier this month. Well I'm showing my appreciation for all the growing they've done by eating them. Last night I snipped out some of those coriander leaves for a chunky what-needs-to-be-eaten salad, tonight I'm targeting delicate little dill fronds for salmon and pasta primavera. Contemplating having a winter salad box too, or on the other hand, will it get soggy, frozen and actually not be worth it?

Gardening journey. #ImpulsiveGarden. Some things to sow. now! Ahh Spring has sprung. Not only is the sun shining more often and the temperatures gently ambling ever closer to bared-midriff (fishbelly) level but we're a whole three weeks early. Here are a few things to get you started:. Asparagus Crowns - enjoy around June/July 3 years from planting. Resist scrumping too early, as you can really knock the plants back. Aubergines - ready to pick in August. Best grown under cover. Purple Sprouting Broccoli ...

Hops - The Impulsive Gardener
http://www.theimpulsivegardener.com/2012/06/hops.html
Gardening journey. #ImpulsiveGarden. One thing I really love about Suffolk is the number of wild or escaped hops I see everywhere. In towns and gardens whole hedges seem to be quickly dissappearing under twining blankets of prickily hop vines. There to be appreciated. Growing my own hops has little and less to do with any real love of beer or ales. In the pub, I'm firmly a cider drinker ( ooo-arrr, Wurzles song now playing relentlessly in head. Here. Pink Fir Apples and a good way to eat them - The Impulsive Gardener
http://www.theimpulsivegardener.com/2012/11/tatties-and-pink-fir-apples.html
Gardening journey. #ImpulsiveGarden. Pink Fir Apples and a good way to eat them. Pink Fir. Apple. What an excellent name. I'm not entirely sure where it came from but I like to think each word was picked out of an old bowler hat a hundred or so years ago by a grubby group of tittering potato breeders. Potatoes are not something many of us particularly delight in growing either. The few exceptions aside ( salad blue. So, what are these funny looking little weirdos good for? Handful of herbs roughly choppe...
