We did have an online guest book as regular visitors to this site will know. Unfortunatly because of SPAM the guest book became virtually unusable and we have had to take it off line. I have lived in the USA for the past thirty years but today I visited my parents and decided to take a nostalgic drive around my old hunting ground. Very sad...

See our publications page for details of our third book :-. Past Memories of Warsop Vale and Warsop Main Colliery, now on sale. A small typical former mining village originally of some 220 terraced houses, is located in northern part of Nottinghamshire. Close to the Derbyshire border and approximately 5 miles north of Mansfield. The colliery which came into production in 1898 and was proved to be a very productive enterprise throughout its life, has now unfortunately closed and the site reclaimed.

Warsop Vale Mining Village. Prior to the sinking the shafts of Warsop Main Colliery, around 1896, Staveley Coal and Iron Company built, using local limestone, a terrace of cottages known as the Rock Cottages, to house the engineers who sunk the shafts and developed the mine. These houses were built by a firm from the Staveley area called Moore’s built the houses in the village proper at a cost £40 per house, hence the title of the £40 house.
