Jawaad Mahmood in Tokyo. August 22, 2013. I happened to run into the conversation about Japanese startups on Hacker News and on the BBC. A few stream of thought notes. While it is great to see South Korea has come a long way, it has hardly “overtaken” Japan. If anything, the work environment is /worse/, especially when it comes to supervisors, work environment, family environment, etc…. Not very convinced by the foreigner opinion. The lack of trust of younger Japanese is really poisonous and I have felt ...

Jawaad Mahmood in Tokyo. Using Custom Django Settings Files with Jetbrains PyCharm. November 13, 2013. When the Jetbrains site said one could not use custom settings files with PyCharm, I was concerned; until I realised the comment was more than 2 years old. You CAN use custom settings files. After this, my server ran just fine. Code, Games and fun. Proudly powered by WordPress.

Jawaad Mahmood in Tokyo. The Prime Minister – At the Mosque? December 30, 2005. An Ode to my FM10. December 12, 2004. Today, out of curiousity, I decided to take a look at the newsgroups to see what the general opinion is. Why am I not surprised? My pictures might be faulty at times (partially my fault, partially the lack of equipment like filters), but they always conveyed what I wanted. So for what reason is the FM10 so hated? Yes, the dark secret of the FM10. While it can use Nikon lenses and othe...

Jawaad Mahmood in Tokyo. The iPad as a High-Latency Second Monitor with Air Display. May 31, 2012. At work, I’ve been experimenting with standing while coding? I do find it far more effective than the alternative, and as an added side-bonus, I don’t feel crippling exhaustion when I get home? Unfortunately, the effect of the loss of a second monitor is quite pronounced? Whereas I could previously keep information split between two monitors with ease, I am forced to resort to Expose or the Gnome equivalent?
