Hatherton Boats waterway travels. Monday, 5 August 2013. Arrived in London yesterday dinner time, did a lot of locks and I only missed doing one due to eating, just my luck a woman stripped down to her underwear and jumped in the cut, nobody even took a photo for me. Nearly lost Perry (the dog) in a lock but lucky for him a spectator pulled him out. You get loads of people watching at some locks here. Some of the boats here are a little different more like sheds. Time for a drink now John. A lot of locks.

Hatherton Boats waterway travels. Monday, 19 August 2013. A lot of locks. Yesterday after a freezing cold shower (gas ran out) and mixed weather we moored up at Stockton. we had a few pints in the Boat Inn (nice pub worth a visit). Today we stopped off at Lemington Spar for a few essentials, before mooring up by Hatton Locks,(none of us fancied doing this flight after the 25 locks we had done earlier). Had a couple of a pints in the The cape of Good Hope before tea. Time for a drink John. A lot of locks.

All going well had a meal in the Black Horse in Kidlington pubs ok, went food shopping in Banbury, and moored up at Nell Bridge Lock where a small group of actors (Mikron Theatre Company) were performing on a farm opposite our mooring, the kids seemed to enjoy it. Rylan has a blister so is finding the locks harder than usual, Elaine did some training navigating the last few locks, and I think Mark no realizes how tiring they can be. Knowle, we headed for Birmingham and after 3 weeks and almost 400 miles, this is by far the most grotesque water and scenery we have witnessed. After a dozen or so locks me and Rylan had to leave Mark, Elaine and Connor to the 17 or so locks near Birmingham city center. Hatherton Boats waterway travels. Wednesday, 31 July 2013. Rain all the way. Not much to report today, only had one downpour of rain it lasted all day though. Set off early Mark found out his pram cover doesn't fit under low tunnels (no major damage done). Did a little helmsman training today Mark suggested I should go to spec savers. ( I think he realizes my potential and is worried about being second best). Rylan doing a lock in his new cap. Moored up just outside Nuneaton. Time for a drink now John.

Hatherton Boats waterway travels. Saturday, 3 August 2013. Sorry about late post no Internet connection. We went through Blisworth tunnel (the third longest used canal tunnel open to navigation in Britain) completely unscathed in about an hour. In the afternoon we stopped of at Tesco in Milton Keynes, then cruised down to Fenny Stratford Where we moored for the evening. Well on the way now think we will arrive about Sunday Morning. 3 August 2013 at 18:09. Its a local pub for local people. A lot of locks.

Hatherton Boats waterway travels. Monday, 12 August 2013. Vega is going home. Sorry not been posting but no internet connection. On Saturday we met Dave and went to fetch the boat we're returning home with Vega (a well known narrow boat on the Basingstoke canal). Mark steered it back to our boat Lady Valentine moored in Weybridge. Today we moored up in Reading with very few problems now both me and Elaine are more proficient at the helm. Time for a drink now. This site was developed as a result of the reunion of all those pupils who attended the school between the years 1959 and 1966. The story of this event is contained within these pages along with many other interesting articles such as the history of the school, the staff who taught at the time, photographs from the period and biographies of many of the class. Hatherton Marina is a long established canal boat mooring facility near to the Hatherton junction on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.
