Hay Barton is a working farm and Blair has lived here all his life. His herd of South Devon cows can be seen grazing from the giant windows overlooking the fields. The cobbled courtyard is a sun trap in the afternoon and the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea and Jill’s homemade cake after a day exploring Cornwall’s gardens and beaches. Guests are welcome to use the tennis court which is available all year round. In the Summer months, croquet is set up on the front lawn. Site Design - Sharkfin Media.

Breakfast at Hay Barton is really special. Served in the flagstoned dining room with a wood burner set in a bath stone fireplace for the winter months. Guests can expect the best of local produce with sausages and bacon from the Kernow Sausage Company, Cornish Orchards award winning Apple Juice, Cornish Sea Salt and Rodda butter. Eggs with the yellowest yolks are from Jill and Blair’s Maran chickens. Jill bakes delicious granola in the Aga, served with fresh fruit and homemade yoghurt.

This is as good as it gets, we felt. Jill and Blair Jobson are attentive and friendly hosts who run an exceptionally comfortable, well-provided B and B in a lovely part of the country.
