On Friday, February 2, 2007. A week ago yesterday. We buried Hayden in Simcoe. At first, I didn't want to do that. At the hospital, the social worker talked to us about our options for his care. The thought of a grave, a stone, a cemetary.too much. We thought we would just leave it to the hospital. On Tuesday, May 8, 2007. The nurses at McMaster put together a beautiful, treasured box for James and I. In it, they put a number of items:. A tiny baby blanket that Hayden was laid on after he was born. A measuring tape with his length marked on it. A beaded baby bracelet with his name on it. A beautiful card with his birth information written inside. The card, cut into a heart, that my midwife had put his hand prints on. I added the tape of his heartbeat from my first midwife appointment.

Sure of what I hope for. Friday, September 27, 2013. A few years ago, at our local homeschooling convention (OCHEC) I attended a seminar on Lapbooks. Now, this was a concept I was almost completely ignorant about; I'm not even sure why I attended. I have a vague memory of watching this lady up at the front, sitting on a chair or stool with this folder.on her lap. Hence the name. :-). At the time, honestly, I thought it was a little weird. Sure of what I hope for. Friday, August 16, 2013. Of all the experiences of the world, horseback riding is right up there with pottery making for me. I've tried it, back in my early teens, pretended to like it and haven't gone near a horse (or a pot) since. (Ok, I think James took me for a carriage ride in Chicago one year).(and I don't mind painting pots, just throwing them). She LOVED it. I didn't think this kid could take to something as easily and enthusiastically as gymnastics, but she did really.

Monday, December 19, 2011. We are so happy that Hayden didn't get any infections this round and that we got to come home so soon! She's doing really well and even eating! I still can't believe that this was her last round! We never have to do it again! Her blood counts have dropped rapidly as we knew they would and she'll need platelets and blood on wed. We've gotten a good handle on when and how much nausea meds to give so she hasn't gotten sick at all! I think that helps with eating, which is wonderful!
