Haystack Commentary: Revelations

Sunday, August 16, 2015. Rev 1:15: And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 8221; Jesus is our judge. Jesus is going to discipline us. If He quits disciplining us as a church, that means one of two things. It either means we’re perfect—which that isn’t going to happen. Or it means He’s put us off. Oh Lord, never stop disciplining us! John was at the transfiguration of Jesus and had seen a glimpse of what He would be like then. We ar...

Haystack Bible Commentary: Revelations: Rev 1:6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Rev 1:6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Instead of being "kings and priests unto God and his Father" in Christ, we are television addicts (an average of four hours daily) who have little time for the Bible and prayer. We are losing by default. And hath made us kings and priests. Rather, as in the Revised Version, and he made us. Must be taken as one phrase. To him be the glory. It occurs twelve time...

Haystack Bible Commentary: Revelations: Rev 2:6: "But thou hast, that thou hate the deeds of the Nicolatans, which I also hate"

http://www.haystackcommentaryrevelations.blogspot.com/2015/08/rev-26-but-thou-hast-that-thou-hate.html

Saturday, August 1, 2015. Rev 2:6: "But thou hast, that thou hate the deeds of the Nicolatans, which I also hate". Hate is a necessary corollary to love. If we truly love good, we will hate evil. It is easy to see perverse hate as itself evil, but this should not cause us to denounce moral hatred. "Love" can be used in an evil way just as hate can. Man can also speak of the things of God in an evil and blasphemous way, but this does not make them any less holy. Means "conqueror" or "destroyer," and laos.

Sunday, August 9, 2015. Rev 2:1: Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;. Ephesus was the New York of Asia Minor. The word Ephesus means “desirable.” The Church at Ephesus was desirable church. The statement about Jesus walking among the candlesticks recalls an Old Testament promise: “I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people” (Leviticu...Rev 2: 4-...

Haystack Bible Commentary: Revelations: Rev 1:13: "And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle."

http://www.haystackcommentaryrevelations.blogspot.com/2015/08/rev-113-and-in-midst-of-seven.html

Saturday, August 1, 2015. Rev 1:13: "And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.". The seven candlesticks (some translations use the word "lampstands") are the seven churches. (see Rev 1:20). Isaiah 1:18). It is an apt description of the one who lived on this earth without sin (II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:22; I John 3:5). God is my King working salvation in the midst of the earth ( Ps.

Haystack Commentary: Psalms

Sunday, August 16, 2015. Ps 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! In the shadows of our daily routine, we cannot see ourselves completely. So, at times, we discard social entanglements and adopt solitude, hoping to propel our mind toward higher consciousness. At its heart, solitude is primarily about not doing something. Just as fasting means to refrain from eating, so solitude means to refrain from society, When we go into solit...

Albert Barnes Notes on the Whole Bible:. 8220;for I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by revelation of Jesus Christ;” 1 Corinthians 15:1-8.
