Revitalize Your Church: Look Past the Troubled Waters
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2015/07/look-past-troubled-waters.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Look Past the Troubled Waters. Photo by Wes Wilson. I wrote this poem several years ago in a hospital waiting room in Duluth, Minnesota, while anxiously awaiting the report from my loved one's surgery. Troubled waters swirl and crash. Upon the Great Lake's southern side. And somehow, I identify. But still, looking up and long. I see a large horizon. Deep waters fading blue,. Reaching up to touch the morning sky. And in my sighings,. Hope's arising. . . Just in time to whisper,.

Revitalize Your Church: The Anvil
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-anvil.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. Last eve I paused beside the blacksmith’s door, and heard the anvil ring the vesper chime; then looking in, I saw upon the floor, old hammers, worn with beating years of time. How many anvils have you had," said I, "to wear and batter all these hammers so? Just one," said he, and then with twinkling eye, "The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.". 8212;Attributed to John Clifford. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Roberts' Rules of Order Test. Revitalize Your Church: Pronouncing Difficult Bible Words
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2006/06/pronouncing-difficult-bible-words.html
Monday, August 21, 2006. Pronouncing Difficult Bible Words. Although I have my Bachelors from Indiana Wesleyan, and my Masters from Fuller Seminary, I still struggle with pronouncing certain names in the Bible. At first, when I came to a name I couldn't pronounce, I just said, "Moses", and went on. They caught on after a while! Then, I just made up a pronunciation. Most of the folks in the congregation didn't know any different, but somehow, that seemed like cheating. Now I can say "Micaiah". Most of the...

Revitalize Your Church: May 2015
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. I saw an interesting sign on a box a while back- "Warning, contents may explode under stress! Don't you wish volatile people had labels like that? Warning - This person is stressed out and ready to explode! Then, we'd all know when to steer clear. Of course, from time to time, we all need a label like that, because stress is common to everyone. We can learn to deal with our situations, however, so the stress won't get the best of us! 1 Try to take life one day at a time. 6 Don't all...

Revitalize Your Church: The Laws of Sowing and Reaping
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-laws-of-sowing-and-reaping.html
Monday, July 20, 2015. The Laws of Sowing and Reaping. Here are a few basic principles concerning sowing and reaping:. 1 We reap what we sow. You can’t sow hatred and reap love. You can’t sow unbelief and reap faith. You can’t sow bitterness and reap forgiveness. You can’t sow selfishness and reap friendship. 2 Sometimes, we reap what others have sown. Somebody paid the price for the things we enjoy and often take for granted. We have electric lights because Thomas Edison worked through the night. If at ...

Revitalize Your Church: August 2015

Monday, August 31, 2015. The Shocking Sins of John Wesley. While celebrating our anniversary in Stillwater, Minnesota last week, my bride, Cathy, graciously agreed to accompany me to Loome Theological Booksellers - a treasure trove of used and rare books. I was like a kid in the candy store! I found Albert Outler's work on John Wesley's theology for $2 on the bargain table, and snapped it up immediately. What a find! 1 Of unbelief;. Having no such faith in Christ as will prevent my heart from being troub...

Revitalize Your Church: Familiar Strangers
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2015/08/familiar-strangers.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. Reflecting on the large number of out of town guests who flock to Hayward each summer while taking a stroll in the woods. I wrote the following poem:. We have not learned each others' names. We smile the same. And give a friendly nod and wave. Because they're summer residents. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Roberts' Rules of Order Test. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. God's Servants Need This First. Unless the life of a missionary (pastor) is hid with Christ in God before he (she) begins the work, that life will become exclusive and narrow. It will never become the servant of all. It will never wash the feet of others.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Roberts' Rules of Order Test. Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life. Purple Fish: A Heart for Sharing Jesus. Revitalize Your Church: Why Should the Bible Be My Boss?
http://revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com/2015/07/why-should-bible-be-my-boss.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Why Should the Bible Be My Boss? As a Christian, I believe the Bible has authority over what I believe and how I behave. Someone may ask, "Why would an ancient book, written thousands of years ago, in completely different languages and cultures have any bearing whatsoever on my life? The answer is that we believe that the Bible is God's Word for us. According to 2 Tim. 3:16, it is "God breathed" (Inspired) and "Useful" (Inspiring.). 1 IT CARRIES ITS OWN WEIGHT. The Bible is not ju...

Revitalize Your Church: How to Make the Wise Choice

Saturday, July 25, 2015. How to Make the Wise Choice. The quality of life is not a matter of luck - but of choice! Some choices don't make much difference - like "What should I wear today? Although some people take an extraordinarily long time deciding this! Other choices can change the entire course of life - like "Who should I marry? Or "How does God fit into my life? Sometimes small choices can turn into disastrous outcomes:. Should I take this drug? 8220;Should I visit this website? The decisions we ...
