Life After College: December 2009
http://hazelmoreno.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 28, 2009. After having the blue nail polish on for about a week, I decided to take it off. However, I've only succeeded in turning my entire hands blue. I mean, even my palms are blue. What the hell? Who invented this shit? Shouldn't someone have thought this thing through? I now have to go out in public looking like I have hypothermic digits. I'm not pleased. This is before it all goes to hell. Sunday, December 27, 2009. A la Eminem. Don't ask me why. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Life After College: August 2010
http://hazelmoreno.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 9, 2010. Circle of life, yo. I sincerely dislike PETA. I love animals and I have nothing against vegetarians but PETA is too extremist. They're overzealous and narrow-minded. Their peer pressure and intimidation tactics disgust me. Let people make their own decisions. Monday, August 2, 2010. I have fallen head-over-heels in love with a geologist. He smells of earth and jungle heat. He does not know that it was the biggest lie I ever told. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Life After College: September 2009
http://hazelmoreno.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 21, 2009. I've been unemployed and mooching off my parents for three months. I was kind of desperate for a job before, but now I'm just humiliated. Three months? Throw me a bone here! While pondering my jobless existence, I remembered a meaningful quote from Elie Wiesel's Holocaust memoir Night. The quote is fairly famous and chances are you've heard it before. The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is. Well, I'll tell you. Sunday, September 6, 2009.
Life After College: No highs, no lows.
http://hazelmoreno.blogspot.com/2010/12/never-being-disappointed-means-never.html
Sunday, December 26, 2010. No highs, no lows. Last year around this time I was home alone (and enjoying it). I didn't really want anything for Christmas so the things that I did get were a pleasant surprise. However, sometimes I wish that I did want a ton of things so I'd get excited about something. Every Christmas I imagine what I'd get her if she loved me too. That's something I read. I wonder where next year will find me. December 28, 2010 at 1:28 AM. I recognize that quote! It made me sad, too.

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered: December 2011
http://sonaliinseoul.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Thursday, December 22, 2011. Cape Town and other Beautiful Things. You can see one of the World Cup stadiums to the left. Interestingly, climbing down Table Mountain was also like doing 2000 lunges, except instead of putting all my weight on my quads, I put it on my knees. I'd recommend taking the cable car. All of the tour guides are former political prisoners. Recreational area for prisoners. Made entirely out of Coca-Cola crates. The area...

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Saturday, February 5, 2011. My first day of teaching. I had my first day as a teacher a little over a year ago. The weekend before my first teaching week, I went to the school to meet with my bosses and supervisor. The school was located on a busy street literally bounding with academies. Looming snow-capped hills provided an interesting juxtaposition (and my first experience with the Korean love for the outdoors). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Sunday, October 31, 2010. Sacred deer and a Giant Buddha. J and S's Grand Adventures in the East Part 4: Nara. We'd heard that they bow for biscuits. Turns out, so did we. You got any more of those biscuits? It's hard to tell how big he is, but I think I was about the size of his finger. There were huge throngs of people waiting in line (with deer interspersed). The temple was huge and they had lit several hundred (perhaps thousand? Being in...

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Animalia II: Lion cub pics of me that totally deserve their own post. Look how happy she looks. I'm smiling, but that hurt. Like a kitten, but with sharper teeth and claws. Monday, November 14, 2011. The Coldest Winter I Ever Spent Was a Summer in Sub-Saharan Africa. With a low of freezing and a high of 70 (21 C), the winter was somewhat misleading. This is Africa, right? The cold served us well on safari. A...

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Thursday, November 18, 2010. If I were a Chinese animal, I'd want to be a panda. We had just one thing on our itinerary: the Beijing Zoo. After a leisurely breakfast, we headed there via subway. It was oddly quiet on the subway that morning, which we assumed was because it was Sunday. After receiving the pink punishment on his neck and nose, J fortunately remembered to put on sun screen because it was another clear, hot day. The one animal t...

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Tuesday, December 21, 2010. I'm kind of famous. My blog was chosen as one of "50 blogs for those interested in teaching abroad." Southwest Townships" where "colored" people mainly lived during apartheid. Nelson Mandela's former house and the Apartheid Museum are here. Partake of a braai:. Watch a rugby game. Have my DNA mapped: Apparently I can do this at the university where I'll be working. Visit the Cradle of Humankind. Visit all of the soccer stadia* that were in the World Cup. Oh yes, I did.

My Overseas Journey(s), Unfiltered. OK, it's a little filtered. Monday, October 15, 2012. My first attempt at buying a trash bag in Seoul. Instead of buying a ten liter bag, I bought a one hundred liter bag. My kitchen in Bordeaux. It wasn't long before I learned the words for "mouse droppings" - "crotte de souris.". Scotsmen really do wear kilts! What I like about living abroad is the reduced pressure to rush around taking pictures of iconic attractions in a span of a few days or weeks. I like that ...
