May 16, 2016. Last week was difficult, no sleep, craving sugar and feeling regular pangs of cravings for my vino at the end of the day. And on my sixth day, I folded, gave in, caved, and I spun downwards for three days. It was not a test of my new not drinking life, it was the slipping away of awareness of how bad alcohol makes me feel. Musings on becoming alcohol-free. May 13, 2015. April 24, 2016. It feels like there has been a heck of a lot of change happening in my life lately. Or maybe it’s always that way. They say that change is the only constant in life, and this, I know is true. If I don’t like how I am feeling usually all I need to do is wait a few hours or go to sleep, and sure enough, it will shift. After two years alcohol-free and taking care of myself pretty well, I have lately taken notice that many members of my family experience issues with either substance abuse or struggles with mental illness. I think it would have been too hard to assess this kind of thing a few years ago when I wasn’t even ready to own up to my own struggles yet. Adult Children Boundaries…. Boundaries for everyone…. Today I am grateful to be sober and free.
