Sunday, December 26, 2010. During a trip to my favorite local purveyor of German foods, Geiers Sausage Kitchen. I came across this marzipan curiosity. I didn’t know what it meant, but I had to buy one. My brother-in-law is from Switzerland and is able to shed light on all things European. He recalled the Geldsheisser. Sunday, January 24, 2010. Slavic Word “Guba” Describes the Snail Shape of this Bread. This bread keeps really well because of all the enrichments. Archive for August, 2013. Outdoor Canning Kitchen & Sweet Corn. Sunday, August 25th, 2013. This weekend I’ve been working on a wheelbarrow full of organic sweet corn that was GIVEN to me. Yep, that’s right, it was free! I also got some help this time around. Since we moved our youngest son to college last weekend, my husband has been especially attentive to me, as we’ve been adjusting to our empty nest. My setup for cutting corn is very basic. Posted in Canning and Preserving. Sunday, August 18th, 2013.

My fried apple filling is simply sliced apples fried/softened in butter, and finished off with a couple of squeezes of fresh lemon juice, and brown sugar or maple syrup to taste. I just thought of something else … in the spring when I go foraging …… ramps and morels! Bart's Maple Syrup. The Original Soap Dish.

Archive for February, 2012. Tuesday, February 28th, 2012. I thought I had better put in a quick appearance. Thanks to a mild case of the winter blues, my motivation level has been almost non-existent. It’s been a few years since I’ve had a legitimate case of the blues, and I hope it’s the last for long time to come. I’m dreaming of sunshine, warmer temperatures, green things, and dirt under my fingernails. The girls enjoy grazing on the dormant rye/vetch cover crop I planted in the fall. Apparently, Gran...
