We just had a checkup for Haz a couple weeks ago with her cardiologist, so I thought I’d give everyone a quick update. Generally, Hazel is doing great! She’s lookin’ chubby (thanks to my good ‘ole chubby cheeks she inherited) – up to the 25% percentile now, she’s really taken up walking over the last few weeks, and although still a little wobbly, is doing awesome! Hearts Off to Hazel. Hazel’s Story (to date). Here’s just a couple pictures and I’ll try to come fill in details later about what exactly was going on in Hazel’s heart and the surgeries that have been done to remedy those things. Hazel’s conditions (to date):. Coarctation of the aorta (basically a pinch in the aortic arch causing bad/lack of blood flow to extremities and organs). Repaired Feb 2013 and still looking good. Hypoplastic aorta (too narrow causing bad blood flow to extremities and organs).

I think this is the first day since we got home that I can say everyone in the house is doing great (knock on wood)! My primary care doctor confirmed my suspicions that Hazel came home from the hospital with a cold – that was contributing to her eating issues and throwing up and just generally sounding pretty junky in her lungs. Just think warm, flowery thoughts.🙂. Sporting the mustache fr the dr’s office.

Hearts Off to Hazel. Hazel’s Story (to date). January 29, 2014. Hey all. On Monday we had a follow up visit with our cardiologists since the hospital discharge. Overall they were pretty happy about how she looked! She’s gaining weight, which is awesome. We’d still like to see her gain a little faster, so I took a quick detour and visited the dietician on the way out of clinic and we’ll keep working on this. She’s doing phenomonally though! It’s a big deal and we want to make sure we get the right fit.

Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Having one of those days. As time goes on things get better a lot better as a matter of fact. I went from feeling like my heart would never heal to having a mostly healed heart. Saturday, September 29, 2012. Camping trip to Schofield. In late Aug we took the girls up to Schofield to camp. Not one of the best ideas we have ever had. Apparently I did not pack warm enough and we froze that night. However the fishing was fun and it is something that we will never forget and maybe one day even laugh at. Helping Daddy set up the tent. The girls call the rock "the Little Mermaid rock" every time we go to Schofield they insist that we take pics on it. LOVE the pic of Kaitlin and Dave.
