Widy Writer: It's time for pies!
http://widywriter.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-time-for-pies.html
Living life between the lines. Saturday, July 2, 2011. It's time for pies! Today was the day for the pie competition at the Stoughton Fair. I began competing in this a number of years ago when my aunt-in-law suggested I give it a try. The pie auction takes place at 3:30 pm Each pie is sold with half the money going to support the fair and the other half to the pie exhibitor. The money is nice, but the contest is truly about supporting the fair and, of course, bragging rights for the year to come. I'm a w...

Living life between the lines. Thursday, May 19, 2011. I heard on the radio last week that it was National Etiquette Week. I was reminded of it as I sat down to many formal meals these two weeks. Thanks to the late Lyle Wallace I've been prepared for these since I was a freshman in high school. Here are a few lessons I remember and always follow:. 8226; Don't eat until everyone at the table has been served. 8226; Pass and receive items with your outside arm. 8226; Always keep the salt and pepper together.

Living life between the lines. Friday, November 12, 2010. You know you never seem to miss something until it is gone. I learned that about windshield time this week. For those of you who don't know what windshield time is, it is the amount of time you spend driving a vehicle. I logged five hours of windshield time yesterday and it got me to thinking. Hopefully with it being meeting season and all, I'll be able to log a little more windshield time and get the rest of life's troubles sorted out. I must cre...

Widy Writer: April 2011
http://widywriter.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Living life between the lines. Thursday, April 28, 2011. With May and graduation season right around the corner, I am reminded of the Dr. Seuss book Oh! The Places You'll Go. That is the perfect way to describe my start to 2011. You see there are two seasons in the world of agriculture – cropping season and meeting season. And I guess you could say there was a good crop of meetings this year :). Personally, it's been nice to put the suitcases back in the closet and spend some time with my family. I'v...
