Winter may seem to have a lock on southern Vermont, but Bald Eagle and Chipmunk sightings indicate that spring is not far off. People along Camp Arden Rd have been reporting a Bald Eagle. The tiny yellow flowers of Creeping Spearwort sprinkle the riverside cobble. Branched thorns make identification of Honey Locust easy. Honey Locust is a southern species planted here as an ornamental and occasionally escaping. And a Viceroy butterfly nectared on Joe Pye Weed while I took its picture.
