April 24, sound. April 24th, 2009. Napowrimo #24: listen up! The world seems to be getting noisier all the time and often writers find themselves needing to block it out so they can concentrate. Well this week, don’t do that. Instead, listen to all the noise and let it inspire your poetry! For example, you could write a mood piece based on the sounds around you at the moment or write a narrative driven by sound. Or you might prefer to write about silence. Or something else entirely. April 23rd, 2009.

La Lizi Dice: NaPoWriMo-Day 4

http://lalizidice.blogspot.com/2013/04/napowrimo-day-4.html

What Lizi thinks and does. Friday, April 5, 2013. This is a bit of a cheat, a revision, but I was glad to get back to it. ON TELLING THE CHILDREN. I will be apprentice to this study for her. I mimic her gaps. For context, retrace the irrevocable meander of her logic for empathy. Because I was born her fair to poor copy and she’s my polestar. Inside her: gaps and bursts. Most days the bursts. Are heartbreaking. Other times we circle the same gaps,. And I try to be as I know she was with me once, our bleak.

What Lizi thinks and does. Thursday, April 4, 2013. Thinking today about doing something more story:. THE CYCLE OF LIFE: A TALE. The sun shook its audacity loose and a cloud devoured the old wanderer’s. Pond with the sun’s hubris as power. A steam rose from that uproar in the form. Of a spirit in search of a body to inhabit when suddenly a child-oracle. Appeared, etc…. The sun shook loose the onus of its blinding charisma and all the families. The winters that had really become, literally, something else.

What Lizi thinks and does. Monday, April 8, 2013. NaPoWri Mo Day 6. Is blogging poems and using women's names as prompts. She suggested Gloria on Facebook, so I took her up on it. The only thing I'm totally committed to is the couplets. Gloria, act like no one’s watching you. Gloria, hold up a newspaper showing today’s date. I watched Gloria make a jealousy into a typhoon. Gloria, sweet Gloria. We brought this upon ourselves. That’s what she told Gloria. If it’s possibly. Which was really not her style.

What Lizi thinks and does. Wednesday, April 3, 2013. I grew up lower middle class and on account of this. An infinite sinkhole of envy and grunting want. I grew up profligate something of a gambler part one the gaining on you. And part two is the ship cast loose like the gull’s filthy feather. Oh my god, you’re a dream I promised myself one day. I grew up on the edge of your electrified fence like a weed. Your melodic beddy-bye harshes through doors I loved/hated your mom. NaPoWri Mo Day 6. If gte mso 9]!

What Lizi thinks and does. Sunday, April 14, 2013. That I want to throw my smartphone against the first person. That walks past. That everything I say is a wish for infamy. That I like being common, for example this mouth of mine. That I want to crack open a scythe against longstanding edifice. That it all has force in it, which I don’t know how to undo. La Lizi Dice

http://lalizidice.blogspot.com/2013/04/day-two-i-sometimes-ask-students-to.html

What Lizi thinks and does. Wednesday, April 3, 2013. I sometimes ask students to write a poem by transcribing an existing poem backwards. The syntactical relationships are loosened, and something new is made of the poem's lexicon. The exercise will be in the next edition of Wingbeats. With Laurie Ann Guerrero's permission, I transcribed the poem "Babies Under the Skin" from her new collection A Tongue in the Mouth of the Dying. And wrote this new poem:. Touch of nourish, turn us. Unsure and shy you come.
