Heather Gabriel Smith: Studio Notes
http://www.heathergabrielsmith.ca/html/notes.html
In January I visited the Hoover Dam and got to spend a bit of time sketching there. The eventual result was a drawing of the Mike O'Callaghan Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. Below I've shown the steps of the process. The original sketch. I've never sketched in such a public/crowded setting before. It was a lot of fun, listening to everyone's reaction to what they were seeing, and lots of people stopped to chat with me. The final drawing = 11 x 21". Back to top of page. I carved this map. Heather Gabriel Smith: Algonquin Park
http://www.heathergabrielsmith.ca/html/algonquin.html
Three wood engravings created from sketches made in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario. A map woodcut map. The three woodcuts which folow were drawn from a series of photos of winter activities in the park in the 70s, which hung in the staff house where I was living at the time.

MamaCreates – Behind the Scenes of One Mama's Life
Behind the Scenes of One Mama's Life. Fifty Weeks – Weeks Three & Four. February 28, 2018. Well, that didn’t take long! I skipped the Week Three post, but I didn’t skip the kindness. And I had a good reason too. I went to the doctor for an odd symptom, which led to urgent tests, which led to a biopsy…. Praise God that it was benign; but they’re not sure what it is, so it needs to be removed. Yay; surgery! You can learn more about St. Terese here. So… what did I do over the last two weeks? Completed some ...
