Engaged December 27, 2007 in Paris, France: What Heather and Joe are doing in Europe! Monday, March 31, 2008. I have become a traveling MACHINE the last few weeks. Between Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Plzn, and Valencia, I have received my fair share of sites! Every new city in Europe is so vastly different and I feel so lucky to be able to experience them all. I'm also so incredibly grateful that I've had people I love come to visit me while I've been here. Their entire group of friends and us, about 10 p...

Engaged December 27, 2007 in Paris, France: What Heather and Joe are doing in Europe! Wednesday, March 5, 2008. A Rowdy Night in Heidelberg. I hadn't seen my Schiller friends for weeks, so I decided that we needed to get together for some fun on the Untererstrasse, where the good bars and clubs are. After our pitcher, we hit the streets and ran into Anna's gangstas, Alex and Martin the Crazy Slovak. It was great having all my favorite Heidelbergers together:. These two are always. During our trek, but An...

Engaged December 27, 2007 in Paris, France: What Heather and Joe are doing in Europe! Tuesday, February 26, 2008. We started off the day with croissants that Annabel and Steve gave us for our journey. We enjoyed our breakfast at around 8am with a view of the Arc de Triomphe near the parc du Cinquantenaire. This is a beautiful pedestrian zone in the heart of Brussels and also happened to be the landmark we were looking for to tell us to get off the bus! While looking for Manneken Pis. I'm not entirely com...

Konichiwa, Iwakuni!: September 2013
http://konichiwaiwakuni.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Iwakuni to Detroit: Traveling Internationally with a Three-Month-Old Baby. The time had come. Our hearts were breaking that our little bitty baby had only met one family member outside of her mom and dad! Miri is the first grandchild. On both sides of the family and we were excited to pass her around and let her charm everyone with her sweet coos and smiles. And Miri replied, "A little plane.". Are a military...

My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Sunday, February 5, 2012. Day Two in Nagasaki. On our second day in Nagasaki,. We had big plans for a birthday lunch. To make the most of the day, we walked through a covered shopping area, checked out the Chinese New Year decorations in the light of day, went to a famous shrine, and then had a famous shippoku. Lunch at Kagetsu, toured the gardens, and then headed back to the bus for a long bus ride home. More fun new year's decorations!

My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Friday, July 5, 2013. We were so excited. To find out a Costco was built in Hiroshima! We went out on the first day it was open to check out the store and see how it was different from our beloved Costco back in the states. The highlight of the trip to Costco, however, was meeting a new friend! Where the demonstrator would blend electronics, a broom, just about anything that would fit with this industrial BlendTec blender! We make smooth...
Konichiwa, Iwakuni!: New to Iwakuni?
http://konichiwaiwakuni.blogspot.com/p/new-to-iwakuni.html
My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Over the past almost-year. For my own memory as well as to help others get a feel for Iwakuni, here is a list of places I've found helpful in getting to know this beautiful city:. First of all, get an official feel for the air station at the government-sanctioned site: MCAS Iwakuni. For federal jobs (not MCCS), go to the seldom-advertised site at Job Vacancy for Americans: CHRO. Facebook's other, less frequented Iwakuni Classifieds.

My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. This next subject, cappuccino, hardly makes up for the fact that there are no cafes on base or near base. However, there are places in the surrounding area where you can commission a beautiful piece of artwork in your froth. I'm a cat that snuck into your coffee! I'm just a bear! Just turn your head :). I hope people in the states like these pictures! Eddie's Big Day Out. And cry out "kawaii! He did get a pretty s...

My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Monday, February 4, 2013. Farewell Lunch at Primavera Restaurant. I had the pleasure of spending almost a year working at the Marine Corps Family Team Building office in Iwakuni and just recently left the position to recharge my batteries and get my life ready for the new baby. As a farewell, the ladies took me out to lunch and our director stopped by to say farewell too. They took me to my favorite restaurant in Iwakuni: Primavera!

My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Monday, February 4, 2013. My favorite day trip while living in Iwakuni is Miyajima Island. We try to go anytime we have a free weekend and the weather is clear because it's so magical and scenic unlike the very industrial city of Iwakuni. The bonus is that we get to bring our little friend Eddie with us! Joe is holding Eddie for a picture with the famous floating torii gate in the distance. These little girls couldn't get enough of Eddie!

My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Monday, March 19, 2012. Late February in Tokyo. Tokyo I'd been waiting for years. It absolutely did not disappoint. I spent a few days looking over all my Japan tour guides (it's verging on collection-status) and my bucket list for things to see and do during just two days in the big city. Here's a rundown of some Tokyo highlights:. Visiting a bar called "GasPanic! It was pouring down rain during our time in Tokyo! The Tsukiji Fish Market.
Konichiwa, Iwakuni!: April 2012
http://konichiwaiwakuni.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Sunday, April 1, 2012. Safari Land and Akiyoshido Caves. Joe and I went on a little day trip. Through Information, Tours, and Travel (ITT) on base. I don't use their services nearly enough, but they are wonderfully helpful, bilingual employees. We've looked to ITT to find dog-friendly ryokans. Japanese B&Bs and to make restaurant reservations. I wonder if my sister and cousins (Mike and Jimmy) remember that trip? Shaped like Mt. Fuji.
Konichiwa, Iwakuni!: January 2014
http://konichiwaiwakuni.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
My life in Japan. FAQs from Iwakuni's Information Page on Facebook. Thursday, January 30, 2014. A quick run-down of our three years in Japan:. A combination tsunami-earthquake-nuclear disaster leak during my husband's first deployment away. Living in an industrial/farming town surrounded by chemical factories, paper product factories, and a crematorium. The lack of non-Japanese food in the area. A girl wants soup, salad, or a sandwich once in a while! Australia: I visited Joe in Australia for a few weeks...

Like kumquat trees, they are said to bring luck to the family.

I live in Japan. Winter in Hokkaido – Pictures. March 2, 2008 in Uncategorized. I have to walk to school uphill in the snow, both ways! February 14, 2008 in Uncategorized. Upon seeing my matted hair and wet face. I went on to learn that a number of schools had been closed due to inclimate weather. Then… the walk home was the WORST! Needless to say… I’m in for the night! That’s enough of that. I’ll be camped out in front ofmy heater until the blizzard moves on out of here! February 4, 2008 in Uncategorized.

Grad School and More | Working to blend family, work, school, fun, and relaxation into one normal day
Working to blend family, work, school, fun, and relaxation into one normal day. Grad School and More. On October 3, 2011. Well, these trees have grown a lot this year. And Tree Tall (we have Tree Tall and Tree Wide) even housed a nest of baby birds! Here they are mid-June…. And here is baby bird nest. I didn’t ever get a picture of baby birds, though. Now that we’re caught up… Fall. Fall is here, and our Red Sunset Maple trees are starting to turn red! On October 2, 2011. My first-ever cornrows up! I sup...

Heather in India 2006. Thursday, February 9. Well now we have arrived home and getting back to 'normal' life. Here is a quick taster of our highlights. I will put up the last lot of photos in the near future. This is what Lisa wrote on our last day in Mumbai:-. We have one day left to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Mumbai! Varkala is also high up on my list of special places and experiences. It was great to reconnect with people we met last year on the cliffs. Eating the lovely food. Lots, lots more.

Heather in Ireland | All about my travels in Ireland!
All about my travels in Ireland! St Patrick’s Day and Leaving Dublin. March 21, 2013. Ireland has been quite swell! We lucked out the first week and barely had any rain at all. Of course, we are in the “dry” part of Ireland – which means it only rains about every other day here. We went out on St. Patrick’s Eve with a friend I met while running the IFTA …. Robert Emmet – a statue given to the Irish from the Americans. We decided he is quite the dapper young man. Read more ». Birds and Bog Bodies!
